Darren Morgan was in and out of the Geelong seniors for most of his 92 game, 69 goal career with the club from 1984 to 1990. His principal asset was his speed, and he was also quite versatile. After the 1990 season he was traded to Sydney, but refused to move, opting instead to line up with VFA side Werribee. He enjoyed a fine 1991 season, playing in a losing grand final against Dandenong, and jointly claiming the club’s best and fairest award. His good form attracted the notice of AFL clubs and he ended up being drafted by Footscray. However, he failed to play a senior game with the Bulldogs, instead continuing for one further season with Werribee, for whom he ended up playing 13 games and scoring 14 goals.
