From Altona, Charles McDonald gave South Melbourne consistent service in 57 VFL games from 1924 to 1928. He kicked five goals. He was one of South’s most prominent players in the 1924 round robin finals series, including a near best afield performance in the first match against Richmond. However, he could not prevent the southerners from slumping to last place of four teams.
