Brian Donohoe was a defender and back-up ruckman who found it difficult to hold down a regular place in the seniors at Essendon. Between 1957 and 1960 he played 34 games for the Bombers and kicked seven goals. Meanwhile he won seconds best and fairest awards in 1956 and 1960. In 1961 he took up the captain-coaching reins at NTFA club Scottsdale where he remained for six seasons, steering the side to back to back premierships in 1964-5. On a personal note, he played for Tasmania in 1965 as well as at the 1966 Hobart carnival. In 2000 Donohoe was named on the interchange bench in Scottsdale’s official ‘Best Team 1960 to 2000’.
