Allan Montgomery was an excellent key position player who made his WANFL debut with Perth in 1979. In 1982 he joined Carlton where he played 33 VFL games over the course of the ensuing four seasons before returning to the west to complete his league career with Perth. Quite tall at 189cm and strongly built (83kg) he was not easily brushed aside, and was a strong overhead mark.
