Heading back city-side, we head down The Parade to Coopers Stadium in Norwood as the Redlegs hosted the Tigers in this year's first top-two match up. In the last clash between these two teams, the Redlegs took a 14-point win at the Bay back in Round 11, this was after the Tigers did the reverse in Round 3 at Norwood.
Despite early inaccuracy which would have seen a wider gap at the first break, the 'Legs were 18-point leaders at quarter-time after kicking 5.6 to Glenelg's three goals without a miss. But after this, people would have been forgiven for thinking that this wasn't a top-two match up at all. The Redlegs held the Tigers to just 1.2 whilst kicking 5.2 for themselves to set a seven-goal gap at the half-time break. All of a sudden, the Tigers had been exposed and would have many thinking about their true status in the competition. The third quarter was the only time the Tigers showed anything, but 3.3 to 3.2 would hardly dent the armor of the home side as they still held a 40-point lead at the final change. There was little more the Redlegs needed to do but push the point home, so they finished off the night with a 4.1 to 2.0 last quarter to run out 53-point winners and remain undefeated after five outings.
Nathan Batsanis was voted best for the 'Legs, while Glenelg named Sam Rudolph as their standout.
