The influence and traces of the perspectives of different religious traditions on a particular religion can be seen even in regions where there is no serious historical and religious interaction. Especially in Japan, approaches to Islam that have a theological or religious character can be evaluated within the framework of a type of influence that emerged in the West with the modern period and whose roots go back to Christian religious traditions. Considering the religious history of Islam in Japan, the multicultural and religious pluralist structure of the country does not make it possible for the existence of any religion to have a negative image. However, in the historical process, the regional political-conjunctural view triggered an instrumental view of Islam and remained effective until the modern period. With the modern period, Islam found a field of activity on the social-religious ground and could be evaluated as a different-positive religious value for Japanese society. The same period also brought along a negative-cultural view of other religions in popular western culture. In this sense, it can be said that the possibility of Islamophobia in Japan today and the grounds for discussions around it continue in this context. It is expected that our study will contribute to the field and prepare the ground for new studies.
