The global spin alignment of vector mesons has been observed by the STAR collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). It provides a unique opportunity to probe the correlation between the polarized quark and antiquark in the strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma (sQGP) produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions, opening a new window to explore the properties of sQGP. In addition, spin alignments of vector mesons have also been observed in other high-energy particle collisions. The results seem to be strongly dependent on the hadronization mechanism, so comprehensive studies are needed. In this article, we present a brief review of theoretical and experimental advances in the study of vector meson's spin alignments in a variety of high-energy particle collisions, with emphasis on hadronization mechanisms.

The low-energy antineutrino- and neutrino-nucleon neutral current elastic scattering is studied within the framework of the relativistic SU(2) baryon chiral perturbation theory up to the order of $\mathcal{O}(p^3)$. We have derived the model-independent hadronic amplitudes and extracted the form factors from them. It is found that differential cross sections ${{\rm d} σ}/{{\rm d} Q^2}$ for the processes of (anti)neutrino-proton scattering are in good agreement with the existing MiniBooNE data in the $Q^2$ region $[0.13,0.20]$ GeV$^2$, where nuclear effects are expected to be negligible. For $Q^2\leq 0.13$ GeV$^2$, large deviation is observed, which is mainly owing to the sizeable Pauli blocking effect. Comparisons with the simulation data produced by the NuWro and GIENE Mento Carlo events generators are also discussed. The chiral results obtained in this work can be utilized as inputs in various nuclear models to achieve the goal of precise determination of the strangeness axial vector form factor, in particular when the low-energy MicroBooNE data are available in the near future.

The observation of the vector meson's global spin alignment by the STAR Collaboration reveals that strong spin correlations may exist for quarks and antiquarks in relativistic heavy-ion collisions in the normal direction of the reaction plane. We propose a systematic method to describe such correlations in the quark matter. The correlations can be classified as local and long range types. We show in particular that the effective quark spin correlations contain the genuine spin correlations originated directly from the dynamical process as well as those induced by averaging over other degrees of freedom. We also show that such correlations can be studied by measuring the vector meson's spin density matrix and hyperon-hyperon and hyperon-anti-hyperon spin correlations. We present the relationships between these measurable quantities and spin correlations of quarks and antiquarks.

We investigate the production of spin-3/2 hadrons in semi-inclusive deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scatterings. The complete differential cross section is derived through the kinematic analysis and expressed in terms of 288 structure functions, corresponding to all polarization configurations and azimuthal modulations. For an unpolarized lepton beam, half of the 192 structure functions have nonzero leading order contributions in the parton model, among which 42 are from rank-3 tensor polarized fragmentation functions of the hadron. For a polarized lepton beam, one third of the 96 structure functions contribute at the leading order and 14 of them are from rank-3 tensor polarized fragmentation functions. In addition to the formalism, we perform a model estimation of the spin transfer to a $S_{hLLL}$ polarized hadron and sizable asymmetry is expected. Therefore, these newly defined observables for the production of a spin-3/2 hadron in a deep inelastic scattering process can be explored in future experiments to understand nucleon spin structures and spin-dependent fragmentation functions.

By use of the linear response theory, we provide a dynamic description of the solar Primakoff process. It is found that the collective electrons overtake ions as the dominant factor, in contrast to the static screening picture where ions contribute more to the photon-axion conversion. Nonetheless, the resulting axion flux is only 1-2% lower than the standard estimate based on the static structure factor.

In recent years, the importance of the electronic in-medium effect in the sub-GeV dark matter (DM) direct detection has been recognized and a coherent formulation of the DM-electron scattering based the linear response theory has been well established in the literature. In this paper, we apply the formulation to the scattering between DM particles and solar medium, and it is found that the dynamic structure factor inherently incorporate the particle-particle scattering and in-medium effect. Using this tool and taking a benchmark model as an example, we demonstrate how the in-medium effect affect the scattering of DM particles in the Sun, in both the heavy and light mediator limit. Formulae derived in this work lay the foundation for accurately calculating the spectra of solar-accelerated DM particles, which is of particular importance for the detection of DM particles via plasmon in semiconductor targets.

The interactions between the spin-$1/2$ doubly charmed baryons and Nambu-Goldstone bosons are analyzed within a manifestly relativistic baryon chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-next-to leading order, by using the so-called extended-on-mass-shell scheme. We utilize heavy diquark-antiquark symmetry to estimate the low-energy constants in the chiral effective Lagrangians. The $S$- and $P$-wave scattering lengths are predicted. We find that those diagrams, vanishing exactly in the heavy-quark limit, do contribute slightly to the $S$-wave scattering lengths in reality. The influence of the spin-$3/2$ doubly charmed baryons, as heavy-quark spin partners of the spin-$1/2$ ones, on the scattering lengths is discussed as well. Finally, $S$-wave phase shifts for elastic scattering processes are presented in the energy region near threshold. Our results in this work will not only be very useful for performing chiral extrapolations of future lattice QCD data, but also provide us chiral inputs for the investigation of the spectroscopy of doubly heavy baryons.

In the Dark Matter (DM) direct detection community, the absence of convincing signals has become a "new normal" for decades. Among other possibilities, the "new normal" might indicate that DM-matter interactions could generate not only the hypothetical NR (Nuclear Recoil) events but also the ER (Electron Recoil) ones, which have often been tagged as backgrounds historically. Further, we argue that ER and NR-like DM signals could co-exist in a DM detector's same dataset. So in total, there would be three scenarios we can search for DM signals: (i) ER excess only, (ii) NR excess only, and (iii) ER and NR excesses combined. To effectively identify any possible DM signal under the three scenarios, a DM detector should (a) have the minimum ER and NR backgrounds and (b) be capable of discriminating ER events from NR ones. Accordingly, we introduce the newly established project, ALETHEIA, which implements liquid helium-filled TPCs (Time Projection Chambers) in hunting for DM. Thanks to the nearly single-digit number of ER and NR backgrounds on 1 ton*yr exposure, presumably, the ALETHEIA detectors could identify any form of DM-induced excess in its ROI (Research Of Interest). As far as we know, ALETHEIA is the first DM direct detection experiment claiming such an inclusive search; conventional detectors search DM mainly on the "ER excess only" and/or the "NR excess only" channel, not the "ER and NR excesses combined" channel.

The precise measurement of physics observables and the test of their consistency within the standard model (SM) are an invaluable approach, complemented by direct searches for new particles, to determine the existence of physics beyond the standard model (BSM). Studies of massive electroweak gauge bosons (W and Z bosons) are a promising target for indirect BSM searches, since the interactions of photons and gluons are strongly constrained by the unbroken gauge symmetries. They can be divided into two categories: (a) Fermion scattering processes mediated by s- or t-channel W/Z bosons, also known as electroweak precision measurements; and (b) multi-boson processes, which include production of two or more vector bosons in fermion-antifermion annihilation, as well as vector boson scattering (VBS) processes. The latter categories can test modifications of gauge-boson self-interactions, and the sensitivity is typically improved with increased collision energy.
This report evaluates the achievable precision of a range of future experiments, which depend on the statistics of the collected data sample, the experimental and theoretical systematic uncertainties, and their correlations. In addition it presents a combined interpretation of these results, together with similar studies in the Higgs and top sector, in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) framework. This framework provides a model-independent prescription to put generic constraints on new physics and to study and combine large sets of experimental observables, assuming that the new physics scales are significantly higher than the EW scale.

A centre-of-mass energy scan near two times of the top mass is performed and the measurement precision of top quark mass, width and $α_S$ are evaluated using the $t\bar{t}$ production rates. Realistic scan strategies at the threshold are discussed to maximise the sensitivity to the measurement of the top quark properties individually and simultaneously in the CEPC scenarios assuming a limited total luminosity of 100 fb$^{-1}$. With the optimal scan for individual property measurements, the top quark mass precision is expected to be 9 MeV, the top quark width precision is expected to be 26 MeV, and $α_S$ can be measured at a precision of 0.00039. Taking into account the uncertainties from theory, background subtraction, beam energy and luminosity spectrum, the top quark mass can be measured at a precision of 14 MeV optimistically and 34 MeV conservatively at CEPC.

A unified formulation of one-loop tensor integrals is proposed for systematical calculations of finite volume corrections. It is shown that decomposition of the one-loop tensor integrals into a series of tensors accompanied by tensor coefficients is feasible, if a unit space-like four vector $n^μ$, originating from the discretization effects at finite volume, is introduced. A generic formula has been derived for numerical computations of all the involved tensor coefficients. For the vanishing external three-momenta, we also investigate the feasibility of the conventional Passarino-Veltmann reduction of the tensor integrals in a finite volume. Our formulation can be easily used to realize the automation of the calculations of finite volume corrections to any interesting quantities at one-loop level. Besides, it provides finite volume result in a unique and concise form, which is suited for, e.g., carrying out precision determination of physical observable from modern lattice QCD data.

We investigate the inclusive and semi-inclusive productions of spin-3/2 hadrons, such as $Ω$, in unpolarized $e^+ e^-$ annihilation. The general differential cross sections are expressed in terms of structure functions in accordance to the polarization of the hadron and the azimuthal modulations. We derive a complete definition of quark transverse momentum dependent (TMD) fragmentation functions (FFs) to spin-3/2 hadrons for the first time from the decomposition of the quark-quark correlation matrix at leading twist, 14 of which are newly defined corresponding to rank-3 tensor polarized hadron. The collinear FFs are obtained from the $k_T$-integrated correlation matrix, and only two TMD FFs with rank-3 tensor polarization have nonvanishing collinear counterparts. Then we perform a leading order calculation of the unpolarized differential cross sections. In the single-hadron inclusive production, only two structure functions are found nonzero and none of the rank-3 tensor polarized FFs contributes. For the nearly back-to-back two-hadron production, half of the 48 structure functions are found nonzero even if the spin of the second hadron is not analyzed, and ten of the rank-3 tensor polarized TMD FFs contribute. Therefore, one can study the rank-3 tensor polarized FFs via the production of a spin-3/2 hadron and an unpolarized hadron in unpolarized $e^+ e^-$ collision experiments. These newly defined FFs can be further applied in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering processes for the study of nucleon structures.

We propose a relativistic theory for spin density matrices of vector mesons based on Kadanoff-Baym equations in the closed-time-path formalism. The theory puts the calculation of spin observables such as the spin density matrix element $ρ_{00}$ for vector mesons on a solid ground. Within the theory we formulate $ρ_{00}$ for $φ$ mesons into a factorization form in separation of momentum and space-time variables. We argue that the main contribution to $ρ_{00}$ at lower energies should be from the $φ$ fields that can polarize the strange quark and antiquark in the same way as electromagnetic fields. The key observation is that there is correlation inside the $φ$ meson wave function between the $φ$ field that polarizes the strange quark and that polarizes the strange antiquark. This is reflected by the fact that the contributions to $ρ_{00}$ are all in squares of fields which are nonvanishing even if the fields may strongly fluctuate in space-time. The fluctuation of strong force fields can be extracted from $ρ_{00}$ of quarkonium vector mesons as links to fundamental properties of quantum chromodynamics.

Polarized quarks and antiquarks in high-energy heavy-ion collisions can lead to the spin alignment of vector mesons formed by quark coalescence. Using the relativistic spin Boltzmann equation for vector mesons derived from Kadanoff-Baym equations with an effective quark-meson model for strong interaction and quark coalescence model for hadronizaton, we calculate the spin density matrix element $ρ_{00}$ for $φ$ mesons and show that anisotropies of local field correlations or fluctuations with respect to the spin quantization direction lead to $φ$ meson's spin alignment. We propose that the local correlation or fluctuation of $φ$ fields is the dominant mechanism for the observed the $φ$ meson's spin alignment and its strength can be extracted from experimental data as functions of collision energies. The calculated transverse momentum dependence of $ρ_{00}$ agrees with STAR's data. We further predict the azimuthal angle dependence of $ρ_{00}$ which can be tested in future experiments.

In this picture, a valence electron is excited to the conduction state via exchange of a virtual phonon, accompanied by a multi-phonon process triggered by an incident DM particle. Under the incoherent approximation, it turns out that this approach can effectively push the sensitivities of the semiconductor targets further down to the MeV DM mass region.

We make a systematic study of $Λ$ hyperon polarizations in unpolarized lepton induced semi-inclusive reactions such as $e^-N\to e^-ΛX$ and $e^+e^-\toΛh X$. We present the general form of cross sections in terms of structure functions obtained from a general kinematic analysis. This already shows that the produced hyperons can be polarized in three orthogonal directions, i.e., the longitudinal direction along the hyperon momentum, the normal direction of the production plane, and the transverse direction in the production plane. We present the parton model results at the leading twist and leading order in perturbative QCD and provide the expressions for these structure functions and polarizations in terms of parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions. We emphasize in particular that by studying the longitudinal polarization and the transverse polarization in the production plane, we can extract the corresponding chiral-odd fragmentation functions $H_{1Lq}^{\perpΛ}$, $H_{1Tq}^Λ$ and $H_{1Tq}^{\perpΛ}$. We also present numerical results of rough estimates utilizing available parameterizations of fragmentation functions and approximations. We discuss how to measure these polarizations and point out in particular that they can be carried out in future EIC and/or $e^+e^-$ annihilation experiments such as Belle.

In this work, we study the prospect of detecting the stochastic gravitational-wave background with the TianQin Observatory. We consider sources of both astrophysical-origin and cosmological-origin, including stellar-mass binary black holes, binary neutron stars, Galactic white dwarves, inflation, first-order phase transitions, and cosmic defects. For the detector configurations, we consider TianQin, TianQin I+II, and TianQin + LISA. We study the detectability of stochastic gravitational-wave backgrounds with both the cross correlation and null channel methods, and present the corresponding power-law integrated sensitivity curves. We introduce the definition of the "joint foreground" with a network of detectors. With the joint foreground, the number of resolved double white dwarves in the Galaxy will be increased by 5$-$22\% compared with a simple combination of individual detectors. The astrophysical background is expected to be detectable with a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 after 5 years of operation and dominated by the extragalactic double white dwarves. On the other hand, due to the uncertain nature of underlying models, we can only estimate the detection capability of the cosmological background for specific cases.

Recently, the importance of the electronic many-body effect in the dark matter (DM) detection has been recognized and a coherent formulation of the DM-electron scattering in terms of the dielectric response of the target material has been well established in literatures. In this paper, we put relevant formulas into practical density functional theory (DFT) estimation of the excitation event rates for the diamond and silicon semiconductor targets. Moreover, we compare the event rates calculated from the energy loss functions with and without the local field effects. For a consistency check of this numerical method, we also compare the differential spectrum and detection reach of the silicon with those computed with the $\mathtt{GPAW}$ code. It turns out that this DFT approach is quite consistent and robust. As an interesting extension, we also investigate the in-medium effect on the detection of the solar-reflected DM flux in silicon-based detectors, where the screening effect is found to be also remarkable in the optically thick regime, and to turn insignificant in the optically thin regime, depending on the energies of the reflected DM particles.

Partial wave analysis is performed, with effective potentials as dynamical inputs, to scrutinize the recent LHCb data on the di-$J/ψ$ invariant mass spectrum. Coupled-channel effects are incorporated in the production amplitude via final state interactions. The LHCb data can be well described. A dynamical generated pole structure, which can be identified as the $X(6900)$ state, is found. Our analysis also provides hints for the existence of three other possible states: a bound state $X(6200)$, a broad resonant state $X(6680)$ and a narrow resonant state $X(7200)$. The $J^{PC}$ quantum numbers of the $X(6680)$ and $X(6900)$ states should be $2^{++}$, while the $X(6200)$ and $X(7200)$ states prefer $0^{++}$. To determine the above states more precisely, more experimental data for the channels, such as $J/ψψ(2S)$, $J/ψψ(3770)$, di-$ψ(2S)$, are required.

Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as nuclei. As a future high energy nuclear physics project, an Electron-ion collider in China (EicC) has been proposed. It will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator, High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) which is currently under construction, together with a new electron ring. The proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons (with a polarization of $\sim$80%) and protons (with a polarization of $\sim$70%) with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of (2-3) $\times$ 10$^{33}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. Polarized deuterons and Helium-3, as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium, will be also available at the EicC.
The main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region, including 3D tomography of nucleon; the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment; the exotic states, especially those with heavy flavor quark contents. In addition, issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the EicC. In order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals, a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge technologies.
This document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the globe. The EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EIC project in the United States. The success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China.

Such Migdal effect provides a new avenue for exploring the sub-GeV DM particles. There have been various attempts to describe the Migdal effect in liquids and semiconductor targets. In this paper we incorporate the treatment of the bremsstrahlung process and the electronic many-body effects to give a full description of the Migdal effect in bulk semiconductor targets diamond and silicon. Compared with the results obtained with the atom-centered localized Wannier functions (WFs) under the framework of the tight-binding (TB) approximation, the method proposed in this study yields much larger event rates in the low energy regime, due to a $ω^{-4}$ scaling. We also find that the effect of the bremsstrahlung photon mediating the Coulomb interaction between recoiled ion and the electron-hole pair is equivalent to that of the exchange of a single phonon.

We give a brief overview of the kinetic theory for spin-1/2 fermions in Wigner function formulism. The chiral and spin kinetic equations can be derived from equations for Wigner functions. A general Wigner function has 16 components which satisfy 32 coupled equations. For massless fermions, the number of independent equations can be significantly reduced due to the decoupling of left-handed and right-handed particles. It can be proved that out of many components of Wigner functions and their coupled equations, only one kinetic equation for the distribution function is independent. This is called the disentanglement theorem for Wigner functions of chiral fermions. For massive fermions, it turns out that one particle distribution function and three spin distribution functions are independent and satisfy four kinetic equations. Various chiral and spin effects such as chiral magnetic and votical effects, the chiral seperation effect, spin polarization effects can be consistently described in the formalism.

In non-central high energy heavy ion collisions the colliding system posses a huge orbital angular momentum in the direction opposite to the normal of the reaction plane. Due to the spin-orbit coupling in strong interaction, such huge orbital angular momentum leads to the polarization of quarks and anti-quarks in the same direction. This effect, known as the global polarization effect, has been recently observed by STAR Collaboration at RHIC that confirms the theoretical prediction made more than ten years ago. The discovery has attracted much attention on the study of spin effects in heavy ion collision. It opens a new window to study properties of QGP and a new direction in high energy heavy ion physics -- Spin Physics in Heavy Ion Collisions. In this chapter, we review the original ideas and calculations that lead to the predictions. We emphasize the role played by spin-orbit coupling in high energy spin physics and discuss the new opportunities and challenges in this connection.

We present a modified version of the Koide formula from a scalar potential model or from a Yukawaon model, based on scalar fields set up in a nonet representation of the SU(3) flavor symmetry in the Standard Model. The Koide's character, which involves the Standard Model fermion mass ratios, is derived from the vacuum expectation value of the nonet field in either model. The scalar potential in the scalar potential model or the superpotential in the Yukawaon model is constructed with all terms invariant under symmetries. The resulting Koide's character, which is modified by two effective parameters, can fit the experimental mass data of charged leptons, up quarks and down quarks. The Wigner function can be obtained order by order in the power expansion of the vorticity and electromagnetic field. The Wigner function has been derived up to the second order from which the non-dissipative charge currents and the stress tensor can be obtained. The charge and energy densities and the pressure have contributions from the vorticity and electromagnetic field at the second order. The vector and axial Hall currents can be induced along the direction orthogonal to the vorticity and electromagnetic field at the second order. We also find that the trace anomaly emerges natually in renormalizing the stress tensor by including the quantum correction from the electromagnetic field.

Recent studies have theoretically investigated the atomic excitation and ionization induced by the dark matter (DM)-nucleus scattering, and it is found that the suddenly recoiled atom is much more likely to excite or lose its electrons than expected. Such phenomenon is called the "Migdal effect". In this paper, we extend the established strategy to describe the Migdal effect in isolated atoms to the case in semiconductors under the framework of tight-binding (TB) approximation. Since the localized aspects of electrons are respected in form of the Wannier functions (WFs), the extension of the existing Migdal approach for isolated atoms is much more natural, while the extensive nature of electrons in solids is reflected in the hopping integrals. We take diamond target as a concrete proof of principle for the methodology, and calculate relevant energy spectra and projected sensitivity of such diamond detector. It turns out that our method as a preliminary attempt is practically effective.

The relatively large branching ratios make it easily to be tested by the running LHC-b experiments, and it can help us to understand both the inner properties and the QCD behavior of the scalar meson.

We solve modified on-shell conditions to obtain the general solution and present the corresponding transport equations in three different forms that are suitable for different purposes. We demonstrate how different spin effects arise from the kinetic theory by calculating the chiral separation effect with mass correction, the chiral anomaly from the axial current and the quantum magnetic moment density induced by vorticity and magnetic field. We also show how to generate the global polarization effect due to spin vorticity coupling. The formalism presented may serve as a practical theoretical framework to study different spin effects in relativistic fermion systems encountered in different areas such as heavy ion, astro-particle and condensed matter physics as well.

The physics of the electronic excitation in semiconductors induced by sub-GeV dark matter (DM) have been extensively discussed in literature, under the framework of the standard plane wave (PW) and pseudopotential calculation scheme. In this paper, we investigate the implication of the all-electron (AE) reconstruction on estimation of the DM-induced electronic transition event rates. As a benchmark study, we first calculate the wavefunctions in silicon and germanium bulk crystals based on both the AE and pseudo (PS) schemes within the projector augmented wave (PAW) framework, and then make comparisons between the calculated excitation event rates obtained from these two approaches. It turns out that in process where large momentum transfer is kinetically allowed, the two calculated event rates can differ by a factor of a few. Such discrepancies are found to stem from the high-momentum components neglected in the PS scheme. It is thus implied that the correction from the AE wavefunction in the core region is necessary for an accurate estimate of the DM-induced transition event rate in semiconductors.

In this note, we study the contributions from the S-wave resonances, f_{0}(980) and f_{0}(1500), to the B^{0}_{s}\rightarrow ψ(3770)π^ {+}π^{-} decay by introducing the S-wave ππdistribution amplitudes within the framework of the perturbative QCD approach. Both resonant and nonresonant contributions are contained in the scalar form factor in the S-wave distribution amplitude Φ^S_{ππ}. Since the vector charmonium meson ψ(3770) is a S-D wave mixed state, we calculated the branching ratios of S-wave and D-wave respectively, and the results indicate that f_{0}(980) is the main contribution of the considered decay, and the branching ratio of the ψ(2S) mode is in good agreement with the experimental data. We also take the S-D mixed effect into the B^{0}_{s}\rightarrow ψ(3686)π^ {+}π^{-} decay. Our calculations show that the branching ratio of B^{0}_{s}\rightarrow ψ(3770)(ψ(3686))π^ {+}π^{-} can be at the order of 10^{-5}, which can be tested by the running LHC-b experiments.

The discovery of the Higgs boson with its mass around 125 GeV by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations marked the beginning of a new era in high energy physics. The Higgs boson will be the subject of extensive studies of the ongoing LHC program. At the same time, lepton collider based Higgs factories have been proposed as a possible next step beyond the LHC, with its main goal to precisely measure the properties of the Higgs boson and probe potential new physics associated with the Higgs boson. The Circular Electron Positron Collider~(CEPC) is one of such proposed Higgs factories. The CEPC is an $e^+e^-$ circular collider proposed by and to be hosted in China. Located in a tunnel of approximately 100~km in circumference, it will operate at a center-of-mass energy of 240~GeV as the Higgs factory. In this paper, we present the first estimates on the precision of the Higgs boson property measurements achievable at the CEPC and discuss implications of these measurements.

We develop a general formalism for the quantum kinetics of chiral fermions in a background electromagnetic field based on a semiclassical expansion of covariant Wigner functions in the Planck constant $\hbar$. We demonstrate to any order of $\hbar$ that only the time-component of the Wigner function is independent while other components are explicit derivative. We further demonstrate to any order of $\hbar$ that a system of quantum kinetic equations for multiple-components of Wigner functions can be reduced to one chiral kinetic equation involving only the single-component distribution function. These are remarkable properties of the quantum kinetics of chiral fermions and will significantly simplify the description and simulation of chiral effects in heavy ion collisions and Dirac/Weyl semimetals. We present the unintegrated chiral kinetic equations in four-momenta up to $O(\hbar ^2)$ and the integrated ones in three-momenta up to $O(\hbar)$. We find that some singular terms emerge in the integration over the time component of the four-momentum, which result in a new source term contributing to the chiral anomaly, in contrast to the well-known scenario of the Berry phase term. Finally we rewrite our results in any Lorentz frame with a reference four-velocity and show how the non-trivial transformation of the distribution function in different frames emerges in a natural way.

The physics of the solar dark matter (DM) that are captured and thermalise through the DM-nucleon interaction has been extensively studied. In this work, we consider the leptophilic DM scenario where the DM particles interact exclusively with the electrons through the axial-vector coupling. We investigate relevant phenomenologies in the Sun, including its capture, evaporation and thermalisation, and we calculate the equilibrium distribution using the Monte Carlo methods, rather than adopting a semi-analytic approximation. Based on the analysis, we then determine the minimum testable mass for which the DM-electron coupling strength can be probed via the neutrino observation. Compared to the case of the DM-nucleon interaction, it turns out that minimum detectable mass of the DM-electron interaction is roughly 1 GeV smaller, and a cross section about two orders of magnitude larger is required for the saturation of the annihilation signal.

We further show that the scaling is a direct consequence of quark (re-)combination mechanism of hadronization and can be regarded as a strong indication of the existence of the underlying source with constituent quark degree of freedom for the production of hadrons in $p$-Pb collisions at such high energies. We make also predictions for production of other hadrons.

We present the complete twist-4 results for the semi-inclusive annihilation process $e^+ +e^- \to h+ \bar q+X$ at the tree level of perturbative quantum chromodynamics. The calculations are carried out by using the formalism obtained by applying the collinear expansion to this process where the multiple gluon scattering is taken into account and gauge links are obtained systematically and automatically. We present the results for structure functions in terms of gauge invariant fragmentation functions up to twist-4 and the corresponding results for the azimuthal asymmetries and polarizations of hadrons produced. The results obtained show in particular that similar to that for semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering, for structure functions associated with sine or cosine of odd number of azimuthal angle(s), there are only twist-3 contributions, while for those of even number of azimuthal angle(s), there are leading twist and twist-4 contributions. For all those structure functions that have leading twist contributions, there are twist-4 addenda to them. Hence twist-4 contributions may even have large influences on extracting leading twist fragmentation functions from the data. We also suggest a method for a rough estimation of twist-4 contributions based on the leading twist fragmentation functions.

We present for the first time the complete twist-4 result for the semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering $e^- N \to e^-qX$ with polarized electron and proton beams at the tree level of pQCD. The calculations have been carried out using the formulism obtained after collinear expansion where the multiple gluon scattering are taken into account and gauge links are obtained automatically in a systematical way. The results show in particular that there are twist-4 contributions to all the eight twist-2 structure functions for $e^- N \to e^-hX$ that correspond to the eight twist-2 transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions. Such higher twist effects could be very significant and therefore have important impacts on extracting these three-dimensional parton distribution functions from the asymmetry data on $e^- N \to e^-hX$. We suggest also an approximate way for a rough estimation of such higher twist contributions.
