فلسفة الجنس (بالإنجليزية: Philosophy of sex)‏ هي أحد جوانب الفلسفة التطبيقية المتضمنة دراسة الجنس والحب. وتشمل دراسة أخلاقيات ظواهر مثل الدعارة، والاغتصاب، والتحرش الجنسي، والهوية الجنسية، وسن الرشد، والمثلية الجنسية، والتحليل المفاهيمي لمفاهيم مثل ما هو الجنس؟ كما تتضمن أيضاً أسئلة عن النشاط الجنسي والهوية الجنسية والحالة الأنطولوجية للجنس. ومن بين كبار فلاسفة الجنس المعاصرين آلان سوبل وجوديث بتلر.

أحياناً ما يُقال عن الفلسفة المعاصرة بأنّها نسوّية غربية. تعتبر القضايا التي أثارتها النسويات فيما يتعلق بالاختلافات بين الجنسين والسياسة الجنسية وطبيعة الهوية الجنسية أسئلة مهمة في فلسفة الجنس، ومنها

• ما هي وظيفة الجنس؟
• ما هو الحب الرومانسي؟
• هل هناك خاصية أساسية تجعل الفعل جنسياً؟
• هل بعض الأفعال الجنسية جيدة والبعض الآخر سيئ؟ وفق أيّة معايير؟ بدلاً من ذلك ، هل يمكن أن تكون الأفعال الجنسية التوافقية غير أخلاقية، أم أنها خارج نطاق الأخلاق؟
• ما العلاقة بين الجنس والتكاثر البيولوجي؟ هل يمكن أن يوجد أحد دون الآخر؟
• هل الهويات الجنسية متجذرة في بعض الاختلافات الوجودية الأساسية (مثل البيولوجيا)؟
• هل الجنس دالة على الجنس أم الجنس البيولوجي؟

التاريخ

طوال معظم تاريخ الفلسفة، لم يُنظر في مسائل الجنس إلا ضمن موضوع الأخلاق العام. ومع ذلك كانت هناك انحرافات عن هذا النمط والتي ظهرت منها تقليد التحدث عن القضايا الجنسية في حد ذاتها.

الرغبة الجنسية

تُحدد التقييمات الأخلاقية للنشاط الجنسي من خلال الأحكام على طبيعة الدافع الجنسي وعليه تنقسم الفلسفات إلى معسكرين:

الفهم السلبي للجنس المُقارب لفهم إيمانويل كانط يرى أن الجنس يقوض القيم، ويتحدى معاملتنا الأخلاقية للأشخاص الآخرين. يقول كانط «إن الجنس يجعل من الشخص المحبوب موضوعًا للشهية». وفقاً لهذا الفهم يُنصح بالجنس فقط لغرض الإنجاب. في بعض الأحيان يُنظر إلى العزوبة الجنسية على أنها تؤدي إلى الحياة الأفضل أو الأكثر أخلاقية.

الفهم الإيجابي للجنس مثل من راسل فانوي وإيرفينغ سينجر يرى النشاط الجنسي على أنه إرضاء للذات والآخر في نفس الوقت.

يقترح توماس ناجل أن التفاعلات الجنسية فقط مع الإثارة الجنسية المتبادلة هي أمر طبيعي بالنسبة للجنس البشري. قد تكون اللقاءات أو الأحداث الجنسية المنحرفة هي تلك التي يكون فيها هذا الاستثارة المتبادلة غائبة، ويظل فيها الشخص موضوعاً للتجربة الجنسية بالكامل.
