Charged particle detection performances of CMOS pixel sensors produced in a 0.18$\nu$m process with a high resistivity epitaxial layer
/ Senyukov, Serhiy ; Baudot, Jerome ; Besson, Auguste ; Claus, Gilles ; Cousin, Loic ; Dorokhov, Andrei ; Dulinski, Wojciech ; Goffe, Mathieu ; Hu-Guo, Christine ; Winter, Marc
The apparatus of the ALICE experiment at CERN will be upgraded in 2017/18 during the second long shutdown of the LHC (LS2). A major motivation for this upgrade is to extend the physics reach for charmed and beauty particles down to low transverse momenta. [...]

From vertex detectors to inner trackers with CMOS pixel sensors
/ Besson, A. (U. Strasbourg) ; Pérez Pérez, A. (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Spiriti, E. (Frascati) ; Baudot, J. (U. Strasbourg) ; Claus, G. (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Goffe, M. (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Winter, M. (Strasbourg, IPHC)
The use of CMOS Pixel Sensors (CPS) for high resolution and low material vertex detectors has been validated with the 2014 and 2015 physics runs of the STAR-PXL detector at RHIC/BNL. This opens the door to the use of CPS for inner tracking devices, with 10-100 times larger sensitive area, which require therefore a sensor design privileging power saving, response uniformity and robustness. The ALICE experiment at CERN will undergo a major upgrade in the second Long LHC Shutdown in the years 2018–2019; this upgrade includes the full replacement of the Inner Tracking System (ITS), deploying seven layers of Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (MAPS). For the development of the new ALICE ITS, the Tower-Jazz 0.18 μm CMOS imaging sensor process has been chosen as it is possible to use full CMOS in the pixel and different silicon wafers (including high resistivity epitaxial layers). Precision predictions for direct gaugino and slepton production at the LHC
/ Fuks, B. (CERN ; Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Klasen, M. (Munster U., ITP) ; Lamprea, D.R. (Munster U., ITP) ; Rothering, M. (Munster U., ITP)
The search for electroweak superpartners has recently moved to the centre of interest at the LHC. We provide the currently most precise theoretical predictions for these particles, use them to assess the precision of parton shower simulations, and reanalyse public experimental results assuming more general decompositions of gauginos and sleptons..

Development of CMOS pixel sensors for the upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System
/ Molnar, Levente (Strasbourg, IPHC)
The ALICE Collaboration is preparing a major upgrade of the current detector, planned for installation during the second long LHC shutdown in the years 2018-19, in order to enhance its low-momentum vertexing and tracking capability, and exploit the planned increase of the LHC luminosity with Pb beams. One of the cornerstones of the ALICE upgrade strategy is to replace the current Inner Tracking System in its entirety with a new, high resolution, low-material ITS detector. [...]

/MINIBALL ; HIE-ISOLDE
The first $2^+$ and $3^-$ states of the doubly magic nucleus $^{132}$Sn are populated via safe Coulomb excitation employing the recently commissioned HIE-ISOLDE accelerator at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient MINIBALL array. The $^{132}$Sn ions are accelerated to an energy of 5.49 MeV/nucleon and impinged on a $^{206}$Pb target. [...]
