Energy loss of pions and electrons of 1 to 6 GeV/c in drift chambers operated with Xe,CO2(15\%) / ALICE Collaboration
We present measurements of the energy loss of pions and electrons in drift chambers operated with a Xe,CO2(15%) mixture. The measurements are carried out for particle momenta from 1 to 6 GeV/c using prototype drift chambers for the ALICE TRD. [...]

Space charge in drift chambers operated with the Xe,CO2(15%) mixture / Andronic, A (Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt) /for the ALICE Collaboration
Using prototype modules of the ALICE Transition Radiation Detector we investigate space charge effects and the dependence of the pion rejection performance on the incident angle of the ionizing particle. The average pulse height distributions in the drift chambers operated with the Xe,CO2(15%) mixture provide quantitative information on the gas gain reduction due to space charge accumulating during the drift of the primary ionization. [...]

Electron identification performance with ALICE TRD prototypes / Andronic, A /ALICE Collaboration
We present the electron/pion identification performance measured with prototypes for ALICE TRD. Measured spectra of energy deposit of pions and electrons as well as their average values are presented and compared to calculations. [...]

We present measurements of position and angular resolution of drift chambers operated with a Xe, CO2 (15%) mixture. The results are compared to Monte Carlo simulations and important systematic effects - in particular the dispersive nature of the absorption of transition radiation and non-linearities - are discussed. A combination of a pixel chip and a gas chamber opens new opportunities for particle detectors. These ''GasPix'' detectors have vector tracking features offering at the same time a L1 track trigger and a particle identification using transition radiation and dE/dX measurements. [...]

Validation of Geant4 Physics Using 1996 CMS HCAL Test Beam Data / Banerjee, Sudeshna (CERN)
Various hadronic physics models of Geant4 are validated for the first time using the 1996 test beam data of the CMS hadron calorimeter. Detailed comparison have been carried out on energy response, energy resolution and longitudinal shower profiles between the test beam data with electron and pion beams at different energies and simulation of the associated setup with different models in Geant4 and Geant3.
