Kalman filter-based longitudinal phase-space reconstruction method for hadron machines / Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Lasocha, Kacper (CERN)
This work proposes a novel longitudinal phase-space reconstruction method for hadron machines. The proposed method is based on a Kalman filter and can therefore provide real-time estimates of the phase-space reconstruction. [...]

Estimation of longitudinal bunch characteristics in the LHC using Schottky-based diagnostics / Lasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Schottky monitors have been designed to measure various parameters of relevance to beam quality, namely tune, momentum spread, and chromaticity. In this work, we present how this instrument can be used to estimate longitudinal bunch characteristics, such as longitudinal bunch profile or synchrotron frequency distribution. [...]

Theory of bunched beam transverse Schottky signals with stationary rf system and high-order chromaticity / Lasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Lannoy, Christophe (CERN ; LPHE, Lausanne) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN)
The observation of transverse Schottky spectra provides insight into intrabunch particle dynamics and serves in numerous facilities to derive important beam and machine parameters, such as the betatron tune, first-order chromaticity, and transverse emittance. The original theory confirming the validity of these observations has been, however, developed by taking strong assumptions on the particle motion in both the longitudinal and transverse planes. Impact of beam-coupling impedance on the Schottky spectrum of bunched beam / Lannoy, C (CERN ; LPHE, Lausanne) ; Lasocha, K (CERN) ; Pieloni, T (LPHE, Lausanne) ; Alves, D (CERN) ; Mounet, N (CERN)
The Schottky monitors of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) canbe used for non-invasive beam diagnostics to estimate various bunchcharacteristics, such as tune, chromaticity, bunch profile orsynchrotron frequency distribution. However, collective effects, inparticular beam-coupling impedance, can significantly affectSchottky spectra when large bunch charges are involved. [...]

Estimation of Longitudinal Profiles of Ion Bunches in the LHC Using Schottky-Based Diagnostics / Łasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Schottky monitors have been designed to measure various parameters of relevance to beam quality, namely tune, momentum spread and chromaticity. We present another application of this instrument - the evaluation of longitudinal bunch profiles. [...]

Analysis of the Transverse Schottky Signals in the LHC / Łasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN)
Schottky-based diagnostics are remarkably useful tools for the non-invasive monitoring of hadron beam and machine characteristics such as the betatron tune and the chromaticity. In this contribution recent developments in the analysis of the transverse Schottky signals measured at the Large Hadron Collider will be reported. [...]

Status of the LHC Schottky Monitors / Tydecks, Tobias (CERN) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN) ; Wendt, Manfred (CERN) ; Wenninger, Jorg (CERN)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) features four transverse Schottky monitors detecting Schottky noise from the beam. From the Schottky noise signal, beam properties like tune, chromaticity, and bunch by bunch relative emittances, can be extracted. [...]

Effect of Longitudinal Beam-Coupling Impedance on the Schottky Spectrum of Bunched Beams / Lannoy, Christophe (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Alves, Diogo (CERN) ; Łasocha, Kacper (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Pieloni, Tatiana (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne)
Schottky spectra can be strongly affected by collective effects, in particular those arising from beam-coupling impedance when a large number of bunch charges are involved. In such conditions, the direct interpretation of the measured spectra becomes difficult, which prevents the extraction of beam and machine parameters in the same way as is usually done for lower bunch charges.
