A Novel Type of Forward Coupler Slotted Stripline Pickup Electrode for CSRE Stochastic Cooling
/ Wu, J X (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Zhang, Y (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Zhu, G Y (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Li, M (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Hu, X J (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Xia, J X (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Yang, J C (IMP, Lanzhou) ; Caspers, F (CERN)
A novel type of 2.76 m long slotted, or perforated, strip-line pick-up, or kicker electrode structure, for CSRe stochastic cooling of non-relativistic particle beams with β~ 0.7 is presented. It is installed inside a bending vacuum chamber with the output signal taken from the downstream end. [...]

Stochastic cooling experiments for CSRe at IMP
/ Zhu, G.Y. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys. ; Beijing, GUCAS ; Huizhou Research Center of Ion Sciences) ; Wu, J.X. (Lanzhou, Inst. Modern Phys.) ; Caspers, F. (CERN) ; e, F. Nolden ; Zhang, Y. ; Wei, Y. ; Hu, X.J. ; Du, Z. ; Xie, H.M. ; Jing, L. et al.
A novel type of perforated travelling wave pick-up/kicker structure was developed for CSRe stochastic cooling which was originally proposed by F.Caspers at CERN. The simulated and measured results of shunt impedance of the slotted travelling wave pickup electrode are in reasonable agreement. [...]

Stochastic cooling of the Spectrometer Ring (SRing) at the High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) project in China, which is used mainly for experiments with radioactive fragment beams, is applied to speed up the cooling process of a stored ion beam. In this study, both a Faltin traveling wave structure and a novel slot-ring standing wave structure based on a ceramic vacuum chamber are discussed and evaluated for the pickup/kicker of the SRing stochastic cooling system. For a bunched beam, the signals on pickups are coherent, providing a signal power proportional to the square of the number of particles. For a coasting beam the individual particle signals have a random phase; therefore, the overall signal is proportional to the particle number N. [...]
