The Phase-2 CMS BRIL system for precision luminometry / Mallows, Sophie (KIT, Karlsruhe, EKP) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Beam Radiation, Instrumentation and Luminosity (BRIL) system aims to provide high-precision bunch-by-bunch luminosity determination in the harsh conditions of the High-Luminosity LHC. Luminosity instrumentation will use diverse technologies, including a dedicated detector, the fast beam conditions monitor (FBCM) with Si-pad sensors and a fast triggerless readout. [...]

Monte Carlo simulations of the radiation environment for the CMS Experiment / CMS Collaboration
Monte Carlo radiation transport codes are used by the CMS Beam Radiation Instrumentation and Luminosity (BRIL) project to estimate the radiation levels due to proton-proton collisions and machine induced background. Results are used by the CMS collaboration for various applications: comparison with detector hit rates, pile-up studies, predictions of radiation damage based on various models (Dose, NIEL, DPA), shielding design, estimations of residual dose environment. [...]

High-precision luminosity instrumentation for the CMS detector at the HL-LHC / Auzinger, Georg (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) is foreseen to reach an instantaneous luminosity a factor of five to seven times the nominal LHC design value. This creates the need for new high-precision instrumentation at CMS, using radiation-hard detector technologies. [...]

Upgrade of the CMS luminosity instrumentation and the Fast Beam Condition Monitor for HL-LHC / Shevelev, Alexey (Princeton U.) /CMS Collaboration
The high-luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) brings unprecedented requirements for real-time and precision bunch-by-bunch luminosity measurement and beam-induced background monitoring. A key component of the CMS Beam Radiation Instrumentation and Luminosity (BRIL) system is a stand-alone luminometer, the Fast Beam Condition Monitor (FBCM), which is fully independent of the CMS central timing and control distribution, as well as data acquisition services and able to operate at all times with a triggerless readout. [...]

TEPX as a high-precision luminosity detector for CMS at the HL-LHC / Haranko, Mykyta (CERN) ; Auzinger, Georg (CERN) /CMS Collaboration
The CMS BRIL project upgrades its instrumentation for the Phase-2 detector to provide high-precision luminosity and beam-induced background measurements. A part of the CMS Inner Tracker - the Tracker Endcap Pixel Detector (TEPX) - will allocate a fraction of the read-out bandwidth for luminometry. [...]

The CMS/TOTEM nominal FLUKA Model; version 1.0.0.0 / Guthoff, Moritz (CERN) ; Kurochkin, Igor (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Mallows, Sophie (Karlsruhe U., EKP) ; Ravotti, Federico (INFN, Turin) ; Urscheler, Christina (Zurich, ETH)
For a physics experiment such as CMS the understanding of the radiation environment is of great interest. It is necessary for the evaluation of the detector performance, effectiveness of shielding or to assess radiation damage. [...]
