With the prediction that the plastic scintillators in the gap region of the Tile Calorimeter will sustain a significantly large amount of radiation damage during the HL-LHC run time, the current plastic scintillators will need to be replaced during the phase 2 upgrade in 2018. The scintillators in the gap region were exposed to a radiation environment of up to 10 kGy/year during the first run of data taking and with the luminosity being increased by a factor of 10, the radiation environment will be extremely harsh. The anomalous production of multi-lepton and its impact on the measurement of $Wh$ production at the LHC

Anomalies in multi-lepton final states at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have been reported in Refs.~\cite{vonBuddenbrock:2017gvy,vonBuddenbrock:2019ajh}. These can be interpreted in terms of the production of a heavy boson, $H$, decaying into a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson, $h$, and a singlet scalar, $S$, which is treated as a SM Higgs-like boson. Accumulating evidence for the associated production of a new Higgs boson at the LHC

In the last decades, the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics has been extensively tested and confirmed, with the announced discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 being the last missing puzzle piece. Even though since then the search for new particles and interactions has been further intensified, the experiments ATLAS and CMS at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN did not find evidence for the direct production of a new state. Lattice sites, charge states and spin–lattice relaxation of Fe ions in 57Mn+ implanted GaN and AlN

Phys.) ; Bharuth-Ram, K (DUT, Durban ; iThemba LABS) ; Gunnlaugsson, H P (CERN ; KU Leuven, Dept. Phys. The lattice sites, valence states, resulting magnetic behaviour and spin–lattice relaxation of Fe ions in GaN and AlN were investigated by emission Mössbauer spectroscopy following the implantation of radioactive $^{57}Mn^+$ ions at ISOLDE/CERN. Angle dependent measurements performed at room temperature on the 14.4 keV γ-rays from the 57Fe Mössbauer state (populated from the $^{57}$Mn $β ^−$ decay) reveal that the majority of the Fe ions are in the 2+ valence state nearly substituting the Ga and Al cations, and/or associated with vacancy type defects. In search for dilute magnetic semiconductors, the magnetic properties at the atomic-scale of Fe atoms incorporated in ZnO, in a concentration range of more than five orders of magnitude from $1 × 10^{−5}$ to 2.2 at% have been probed using emission 57 Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy on implanted $^{57}Mn$ and $^{57}Co$ produced at ISOLDE/CERN. In the ultra-dilute regime ($10 ^{−5}$ at%), the system shows isolated paramagnetic $Fe^{3+}$ ions with a spin–lattice type of relaxation. [...]
