The high voltage system for the high intensity CERN proton source / Hill, C E ; O'Neill, M
For the RFQ injector mounted on the CERN 50 MeV proton linac, the source needs to provide about 300 mA of 100 keV beam in pulses of 20 to 150 micro sec at 1 Hz. Although the high voltage supply is fairly conventional, a number of measures had to be taken to ensure not only the reliability of the source electronics, but also other equipments installed in the near vicinity. Overview of the status and developments on primary ion sources at CERN* / Scrivens, R (CERN) ; Kronberger, M (CERN) ; Küchler, D (CERN) ; Lettry, J (CERN) ; Mastrostefano, C (CERN) ; Midttun, O (CERN) ; O’Neil, M (CERN) ; Pereira, H (CERN) ; Schmitzer, C (CERN)
CERN has 2 operational primary beam ion sources, that are presently used for the production of beam for LHC as well as several other facilities. Protons are produced by a duoplasmatron source, and ions from the GTS-LHC ECR ion source. [...]

H- Ion Sources For CERN’s Linac4 / Lettry, J (CERN) ; Aguglia, D (CERN) ; Coutron, Y (CERN) ; Chaudeta, E (CERN) ; Dallocchio, A (CERN) ; Gil Flores, J (CERN) ; Hansen, J (CERN) ; Mahner, E (CERN) ; Mathot, S (CERN) ; Mattei, S (CERN) et al.
The specifications set to the Linac4 ion source are: H- ion pulses of 0.5 ms duration, 80 mA intensity and 45 keV energy within a normalized emittance of 0.25 mmmrad RMS at a repetition rate of 2 Hz. In 2010, during the commissioning of a prototype based on H- production from the plasma volume, it was observed that the powerful co-extracted electron beam inherent to this type of ion source could destroy its electron beam dump well before reaching nominal parameters.
