/ Avoni, G (INFN, Bologna) ; Balbi, G (INFN, Bologna) ; Carbone, A (INFN, Bologna) ; Antone, I D (INFN, Bologna) ; Galli, D (Univ. Blogna ; INFN, Bologna) ; Lax, I (INFN, Bologna) ; Marconi, U (INFN, Bologna) ; Vagoni, V (INFN, Bologna)
This report describes the optical transmitter boards and the Selection Crate, designed by the Bologna INFN-LHCb group, for the data transmission and the L0 calorimeter trigger of the LHCb experiment. The optical transmitters are used throughout the calorimeter system for data acquisition and the data transmission to the L0 trigger system. [...]

A Beowulf-class computing cluster for the Monte Carlo production of the LHCb experiment
/ Avoni, G ; Bargiotti, M ; Bertin, A ; Bruschi, M ; Capponi, M ; Carbone, A ; Collamati, A ; De Castro, S ; Fabbri, Franco Luigi ; Faccioli, P et al.
The computing cluster built at Bologna to provide the LHCb Collaboration with a powerful Monte Carlo production tool is presented. It is a performance oriented Beowulf-class cluster, made of rack mounted commodity components, designed to minimize operational support requirements and to provide full and continuous availability of the computing resources. A PCIe Gen3 based readout for the LHCb upgrade
/ Bellato, M (INFN, Padua) ; Collazuol, G (INFN, Padua ; Padua U.) ; D’Antone, I (INFN, Bologna) ; Durante, P (CERN) ; Galli, D (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) ; Jost, B (CERN) ; Lax, I (INFN, Bologna) ; Liu, G (CERN) ; Marconi, U (INFN, Bologna) ; Neufeld, N (CERN) et al.
The architecture of the data acquisition system foreseen for the LHCb upgrade, to be installed by 2018, is devised to readout events trigger-less, synchronously with the LHC bunch crossing rate at 40 MHz. Within this approach the readout boards act as a bridge between the front-end electronics and the High Level Trigger (HLT) computing farm. [...]

Irradiation of new optoelectronic components for HL-LHC data transmission links
/ Seif El Nasr-Storey, Sarah (Bristol U ; CERN) ; Detraz, S (CERN) ; Olantera, L (CERN) ; Sigaud, C (CERN) ; Soos, C (CERN) ; Troska, J (CERN) ; Vasey, F (CERN)
Candidate optoelectronic components for use in future data-transmission links at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) were irradiated with 20 MeV neutrons at the University Cyclotron in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium and 24 GeV protons at the CERN PS irradiation facility. The results from this test for multi-channel transmitters, Germanium photodiodes, and Silicon photonics modulators are presented here..
