Developments and the preliminary tests of Resistive GEMs manufactured by a screen printing technology
/ Clark, B. (North Carolina State U.) ; Agocs, A.G. (Eotvos U.) ; Oliveira, R. (CERN) ; Peskov, V. (CERN ; St. Etienne, Ecole des Mines) ; Pietropaolo (CERN ; INFN, Padua) ; Picchi (CERN ; Frascati)
We report promising initial results obtained with new resistive-electrode GEM (RETGEM) detectors manufactured, for the first time, using screen printing technology. These new detectors allow one to reach gas gains nearly as high as with ordinary GEM-like detectors with metallic electrodes; however, due to the high resistivity of its electrodes the RETGEM, in contrast to ordinary hole-type detectors, has the advantage of being fully spark protected. First observation of Cherenkov rings with a large area CsI-TGEM-based RICH prototype
/ Peskov, V (CERN ; Mexico U., ICN) ; Bencze, G (CERN ; Budapest, RMKI) ; Di Mauro, A (CERN) ; Martinengo, P (CERN) ; Mayani, D (Mexico U., ICN) ; Molnar, L (CERN ; Budapest, RMKI) ; Nappi, E (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) ; Paic, G (Mexico U., ICN) ; Smirnov, N (Yale U.) ; Anand, H (Delhi U.) et al.
We have built a RICH detector prototype consisting of a liquid C6F14 radiator and six triple Thick Gaseous Electron Multipliers (TGEMs), each of them having an active area of 10x10 cm2. One triple TGEM has been placed behind the liquid radiator in order to detect the beam particles, whereas the other five have been positioned around the central one at a distance to collect the Cherenkov photons. First Tests of Thick GEMs with Electrodes Made of a Resistive Kapton
/ Oliveira, R (CERN) ; Peskov, Vladimir (CERN) ; Pietropaolo, F (INFN Padova, Padova, Italy) ; Picchi, P (INFN Fracati, Frascati, Italy)
We have developed a new design of a GEM-like detector with single-layer electrodes made of a resistive kapton. This detector can operate at gains close to 10E5 even in pure Ar and Ne and if transited to discharges at higher gains they, due to the high resistivity of electrodes, do not damage either the detector or the front-end electronics. Baby-MIND neutrino detector
/ Mefodiev, A V (Moscow, INR ; Moscow, MIPT) ; Kudenko, Yu G (Moscow, INR) ; Mineev, O V (Moscow, INR) ; Khotjantsev, A N (Moscow, INR)
The main objective of the Baby-MIND detector (Magnetized Iron Neutrino Detector) is the study of muon charge identification efficiency for muon momenta from 0.3 to 5 GeV/c. This paper presents the results of measurement of the Baby-MIND parameters..
