Study of novel pileup mitigation techniques in quark/gluon and tau jets using machine learning / Ibrisimovic, Nafija
The goal of this project is testing new Pileup Per Particle Identification (PUPPI) algorithm for identification and reconstruction of hadronic decays of tau leptons, alongside so far used algorithms with the same purpose, hadron-plus-strips (HPS) and Charged Hadron Subtraction (CHS) algorithm. [...]

Using pile-up collisions as an abundant source of low-energy hadronic physics processes in ATLAS and an extraction of the jet energy resolution / ATLAS Collaboration
During the 2015-2018 data-taking period, the Large Hadron Collider delivered proton-proton bunch crossings at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV to the ATLAS experiment at a rate of roughly 30 MHz, where each bunch crossing contained an average of 34 independent inelastic proton-proton collisions. The ATLAS trigger system selected roughly 1 kHz of these bunch crossings to be recorded to disk. [...]

Jets and missing transverse energy reconstruction and calibration in ATLAS / Bouquet, Romain (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (FR)) /ATLAS Collaboration
Jets and Missing transverse momentum (MET), used to infer the presence of high transverse momentum neutrinos or other weakly interacting neutral particles, are two of the most important quantities to reconstruct at a hadron collider. They are both used by many searches and measurements in ATLAS. [...]

Performance of charged-particle reconstruction within energetic jets in ATLAS for Run 3 data taking / Ducu, Otilia Anamaria (Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (RO))
For Run 3 data taking the track reconstruction algorithm used for the ATLAS Inner Detector has been optimized with a particular focus on minimizing the number of erroneous and low-quality tracks processed by rejecting them as early as possible. [...]

ATLAS Run 3 charged-particle reconstruction performance in energetic jets / Ducu, Otilia Anamaria (Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (RO)) /ATLAS Collaboration
For Run 3 data taking the track reconstruction algorithm used for the ATLAS Inner Detector has been optimized with a particular focus on minimizing the number of erroneous and low-quality tracks processed by rejecting them as early as possible. This ensures a collection of high quality tracks to downstream reconstruction and physics, a key aspect in ATLAS. [...]

Jet transverse momentum distributions from reconstructed jets in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s}$$_{NN}$ = 5.02 TeV / Snellman, Tomas Wilhelm
In this thesis we study the transverse structure of reconstructed jets via transverse fragmentation momentum, $j$$\tau$, distributions in proton-lead (p–Pb) collisions at the centre-of-mass energy per nucleon of 5.02 TeV [...]

Jet and missing transverse momentum reconstruction in ATLAS at the LHC / Loch, Peter (Department of Physics • University of Arizona)
The hadronic final state of the proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is measured with the ATLAS detector by reconstructing jets and the missing transverse momentum ($E_{\text{T}}^{\text{miss}}$). [...]
