Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 821-830 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050821

The paper presents results of the analysis of the accuracy of calculating the volume of standing trees, calculated according to the method used in forestry practice, based on the principle of full calipering of all marked trees with the following calculation of mean height and standing volume according to the method of uniform volume curves. This volume was compared with the exact method for calculating the volume of actual removals including small wood in the beech stands of Little Carpathians in the territory of Lesy Slovenskej republiky, .p. (Forests of the Slovak Republic, State Enterprise), branch establishment in Smolenice. The values of marked...

Determination of Physical Properties, Moisture Absorption Process and Aerodynamic Properties of Grain and Cluster Straw of Two Wheat Cultivars

Mohammad Jafari, Gholam Reza Chegini, Javad Khazaei

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 831-840 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050831

In this study, physical properties of grain and cluster straw including geometric dimensions, moisture absorption and aerodynamic properties of two wheat cultivars were investigated. The effect of cultivar on width, thickness, geometric diameter, spheroid coefficient and mass density was significant at 1% probability level whilst there were no significant effect on grain projected area, length and weight. Moisture absorption of the grains was rapid during the first 30-40 min and then turned to zero. The terminal velocity of wheat grain and straw in three shapes was measured by calculating the projected area in horizontal, lateral and perpendicular...

Estimation of Basic Geometric and Hydraulic Characteristics of Natural Torrent Beds

Mat Jakubis, Mariana Jakubisov

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 841-849 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050841

Many mountainous regions and their watersheds lack the mathematical description of their hydraulic geometry such as the High Tatras region in Slovakia. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to determine the geometric and hydraulic characteristics of natural torrent beds and to propose a regional equations of mountain watersheds for the High Tatras region. In the paper is also proposed a new equation to determine the relationships between the watershed area and the geometric characteristics of flow profiles. Derived regional equations can help in nature-friendly and ecological shaping and dimensioning of channel cross sections in torrent control designing....

The Effects of Potassium Silicate as a Component of Nutrient Medium for Selected in Vitro Cultures of Prunus and Corylus Genera

Elika Kadlecov, Miroslav Barnek, Samuel Magns, Filip Gazdk

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 851-857 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050851

Even though silicon is frequent compound in soil, its use in plant nutrient media is rare. Based on known physiological role and up to now performed studies it seems that silicon has a good potential to improve growth characteristics of in vitro cultivated plants. Before practical application, however, it is always necessary to assess the optimal conditions of application with regard to the fact that plant reactions to different chemicals added to nutritional media can vary on the species or even cultivar level. The presented study evaluate effects of potassium silicate used in in vitro cultivation media on growth parameters of Prunus persica...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 859-865 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050859

The SRI (system of rice intensification) rice cultivation system can save water use and increase production. Besides, a controlled environment for monitoring such matters is important to be recorded to be able to investigate deeply the phenomena that occur. Therefore, a preliminary test to analyze the performance of the irrigation tank monitoring system and its environment was developed to monitor the effectiveness of rice cultivation watering at the research stage. A 400 mm 700 mm bed planting fruit will be planted with water from two tanks with a 0.03 m3 capacity. A bed planting and tank were designed for two conditions, namely automatic...

Relationship Between Age at First Calving and Longevity and Productive Life in Holstein Cows

Vladislav Valchev, Ivaylo Marinov, Teodora Angelova

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 867-874 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050867

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of age at first calving on functional traits - longevity and productive life in dairy cows. The survey included 1490 Holstein cows from 5 cattle farms in Bulgaria. The average milk yield per cow in the farms studied ranged from 6031.68 kg to 8660.37 kg. The average age at first calving was 29.68 months. The highest percentage of cows calved for the first time at age 28-30 months - 29.53%, generally 38.06% of cows calved for the first time at a very high age - over 31 months and only 7.58% calved aged up to 24 months. The average longevity for all culled cows was 6.05 years and the productive life - 3.63...

Efficiency Development in the German Pharmaceutical Market

Tim Gaebert, Michaela Stakov

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 877-884 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050877

Changes in Germany legislation since 2009 significantly limited the operation of German pharmacies. Since then, there has been a steady decline in the total number of pharmacies. This article deals with the efficiency change within the German retail and wholesale pharmaceutical sectors in the years 2009 to 2016. The efficiency calculation was based on the nonparametric data envelopment analysis method and the Malmquist index was used to evaluate changes. Two components of Malmquist index were also monitored separately, capturing changes in the area of technical efficiency and changes in the area of the production possibility set. The results point...

Per Capita Income Inequality in Czech Households Before, During and After the Economic and Financial Crisis

Markta Hnzdilov, Vclav Adamec

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 885-899 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050885

The study tackles the issue of distribution inequality in equalized per capita income in households defined by multiple grouping criteria in the Czech Republic before, during and after the economic and financial crisis. The factors were economic status of the household head, number of children, education and the NUTS 3 administrative regions. Interval grouped per capita income data assembled within the EU-SILC framework via quota sampling were received from czso.cz for 2008, 2012 and 2016. Indicators of income level, variation, quantiles, medial and Gini index were calculated for the respective household groups. Income concentration in the Czech Republic...

Yen Thi Tran, Thanh Thi Cam Tran, Trang Cam Hoang

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(5), 903-913 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068050903

The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the implementation of the consolidated financial statements (CFS) of the public sector in Vietnam. The study also presented some of the benefits and challenges of implementing CFS in the view of some experts in Vietnam. The majority view of experts thought that the implementation of CFS in the public sector has many benefits, including a financial clarification of the public sector. Nevertheless, Vietnam will face difficulties when implementing CFS such as human resources, infrastructure, and financial resources. The results of the quantitative analysis showed that accrual accounting basis,...
