ZOOM @ UT Austin

Zoom is a centrally supported video conferencing solution available to university faculty, staff and students that enables you to meet, teach, and learn from anywhere. It is integrated with Canvas, and you can host and join meetings from your mobile device, desktop client or the web.

UT Zoom and AI Companion

UT Zoom users can now enable Zoom AI Companion features on their account. This is an optional setting, and as with any AI tools, all UT Zoom users are expected to practice acceptable use of AI Tools when hosting or attending Zoom events utilizing Zoom AI Companion features.

Zoom Minimum Client Version - Summer 2024

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, UT Austin’s central Zoom tenant (utexas.zoom.us) will require a minimum client version in order to use the service.

  • All platforms will be enforced to minimum client version 6.1.6

Please update your Zoom client at the earliest opportunity.

 

Zoom Add-on License Requests for 2024-2025

If you or your department needs a NEW add-on license for June 2024-2025, please complete this form to procure your license through ITS. Our next purchase wave is TBD. Do not expect to receive your license immediately, as we will have another bulk purchase to prepare for Fall 2024. 

Zoom Add-on licenses include:

  • Zoom Webinar
  • Large Meeting
  • Concurrent Meeting
  • Zoom Room
  • Zoom CRC

If you have an urgent request for a Webinar license, we recommend Teams Webinars. Teams Webinars do not require a paid license and can be scheduled by all active students, faculty, and staff. A comparison chart for Teams Webinars and Zoom Webinars can be found here.

Panopto can also be used for webcasting from one presenter to an unlimited streaming audience for free.
