The Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation and Transparency, EnACT programme held a colorful expo at Lusaka's Mulungushi International Conference Centre under the theme ‘Building Partnerships – Driving Change’. The expo saw over 30 civil society organizations showcasing their work under the EnACT programme from five provinces around Zambia. Minister of Justice, Honorable Princess Kasune graced the occasion and assured government’s commitment to access to justice for all and the prudent utilization of public resources with zero tolerance to corruption. She noted the recent launch of the National Anti-corruption policy as a demonstration of her government’s commitment to the fight against corruption. At the same event, European Union Head of Governance and Social Sector, Bogdan Stefanescu commended civil society organizations on the role they play in bringing about transformative change in society. German Embassy Head of Development Cooperation Bernhard Trautner said Germany engages with the Zambian government to work on the overall policy framework that enhances access to justice, transparency and accountability. He challenged civil society organisations to fully take up their role as agents of change and drive the implementation of policies such as the National Anti-Corruption Policy, the Access to Information Act and the Children’s Code Act. GIZ Country Director Axel Ulmer thanked the government for its trust in working together in the sensitive areas of access to justice, transparency and accountability. He further thanked participating CSOs for their contribution to achieving this mandate. The German – European Union funded programme, EnACT works with a diverse network of civil society and state partners in the promotion of access to justice, accountability of institutions and transparency in government decision making processes. Other dignitaries present at the Expo included the Mayors of the Cities of Lusaka and Kitwe, Chilando Chitangala and Mpasa Mwaya respectively.
