In celebration of Women’s Month, we’re shining a spotlight on a remarkable group of ladies from our Komati Small-Scale growers known as the Phaphamani Women’s Club. Founded in 1987 by Mrs. Ndlovu and Mrs. Ntuli to combat malnutrition in their community, these women transformed 45 hectares of tribal land into a sustainable sugarcane farm. Through effective collaboration, coupled with a recent grant and loan, they have not only restored 17 hectares of sugarcane but also expanded by upgrading their irrigation system and establishing a further 21 hectares of sugarcane. This transformation has significantly improved their quality of life. Today, they employ four permanent workers and up to 20 field workers, uplifting their community and strengthening food security. We are proud to support and collaborate with these inspiring women, growing what matters and ensuring a lasting impact for generations to come.

We're excited to kick off our Pass the Spoon campaign today by shining a light on the incredible women in our business who break stereotypes every day. From engineers to pan boilers, we celebrate and honour our women who break barriers, drive success, and add flavour to the workplace and beyond. We begin by passing the spoon to our phenomenal Sugar MD, who leads a remarkable team of 3,097 at our sugar farm and mills. She is not only a powerhouse in the workplace but is also a mom of two, an animal lover, and a passionate horse rider. #RCLFOODS #PassTheSpoon #WomensMonth

What matters to RCL FOODS is fostering the development of young individuals and this week we had the pleasure of hosting BSc (Agric) Animal Science students from the University of Pretoria at our Randfontein factory. From Touring our facilities to learning about pet nutrition and potential career opportunities, these future leaders in animal science gained valuable insights into our operations. We look forward to seeing them make an impact in the near future.

We are celebrating this Women’s Month by passing the spoon! Traditionally, the act of “Passing the Spoon” symbolises the sharing of knowledge, experience, and opportunities. This Mandela Day, we proudly united with 26 external corporate partners and over 500 volunteers across the country to make a lasting impact on our communities. Together, we transformed 192 ECD (Early Childhood Development) centres with new play spaces and resources, reaching 9 600 children nationwide. Together, we honoured Nelson Mandela's legacy by creating better tomorrows and growing what matters for our communities.

Yesterday morning, at the Regional Gender Mainstream Awards held at Vodacom, we celebrated our very own Janine Govender, who was named the overall winner in the Positive Role Model category for KwaZulu-Natal!
