Through partnerships and collaboration, TIP works towards fostering active citizenry, developing capacities of key anti-corruption institutions and establishing multi-stakeholder partnerships. Research and a compilation of a tactical guide is required, the aim of the tactical guide is to provide practical steps and advice to whistleblowers, in the different phases of blowing the whistle (pre-reporting, during reporting process and post reporting) enabling them to navigate the process effectively. The tactical guide should aim to equip whistleblowers with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions and mitigate potential negative experiences during their whistleblowing journey. The guide should be easily accessible and user-friendly for individuals. By fostering active citizen engagement and building the capacities of key anti-corruption institutions, TIP aims to promote transparency and accountability. A key aspect of this work involves establishing multi-stakeholder partnerships to strengthen collective action against corruption. In partnership with the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), TIP seeks to enhance the operational efficiency of SIU's Portfolio Office by implementing a comprehensive digitalization strategy. This initiative focuses on digitizing physical documents to make them machine-readable and OCR-ready, while also ensuring the long-term success of the digital transformation through robust change management strategies. The TIP invites eligible and suitably qualified service providers to submit their proposals for the development and implementation of a Digitalization Strategy. The TIP also provides capacity development for anti-corruption actors in the state, civil society, and the business sector. The TIP will support the process of training investigators from the Office of the Public Protector of South Africa (OPPSA) on public procurement. The OPPSA has approximately 167 investigators located in all provinces and at their National Office in Pretoria. These investigators work on any complaints that are referred to the institution and on cases determined by the OPPSA proactively. In addition, other relevant agencies may be included in the training. By 2040, 60% of all vaccines used in Africa should be produced on the continent. To achieve this, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Africa CDC estimates that at least 900 manufacturing employees will require upskilling. This underscores the urgent need for local production to ensure vaccine security and resilience. 💉 Together with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini are training over 100 professionals from the pharmaceutical industry and research sector in Good Manufacturing Practice, the highest standard in biomanufacturing. As the African vaccine market, currently valued at $1.3 billion, continues to expand, local production is key to unlocking its full potential. By investing in skills, infrastructure, and regulatory capacity today, we are laying the foundation for a healthier and more resilient Africa tomorrow. GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini partners with Africa’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation and Department of Health South Africa to strengthen Africa's vaccine production capacity and improving the quality of medicines. Green hydrogen and Power-to-X present an exciting opportunity to decarbonise and industrialise at the same time. On behalf of the BMZ 🇩🇪 GIZ supports the emerging 🇿🇦South African #GreenHydrogen economy as part of South Africa's #JustTransition process. Today, our GIZ delegation had the opportunity to visit Isondo Facility. It was impressive to see how Isondo manufactures fuel cell components for electric vehicles and green hydrogen technologies through critical raw materials and with no waste. The black owned company is not only a pioneer it is also a good practice: Isondo seeks to beneficiate South Africa's wealth in critical raw materials to localise a larger portion of the electrolyser and fuel cell value chain.
