For nearly a decade, inmates at Nebraska's only women's prison have been raising concerns about the facility’s water. But prison administrators have failed to adequately respond to their complaints.
Well... I discovered that getting into the wrong vehicle does not apply to just me, but can also happen to two of us at the same time, looking for the same car! Grandma Deb and I were on route to Bellevue to take our “adopted grandson” Carlos Ortega out for an early dinner. On the way, we stopped at the Lincoln Walmart in search of fresh passion fruit (Another story for another time!) since Google proclaimed them as having the fruit as fresh. I took the only two packages in the cooler that were frozen, and Grandma and I headed to my dirty KIA Soul to take off for Bellevue.
She opened the passenger-side door and started to get in, and I opened the right rear door to toss in my bag of frozen fruit. A very wide-eyed older man in the driver’s seat sort of hissed, “WHAT THE HELL?” Grandma jumped back, and I apologized profusely. It had happened again... same color KIA Soul, same covering of dirt, but no OOH BOY license plates! We made a hasty retreat to the next row over, and I swung around and honked at him as we left the lot so he would hopefully understand our joint mistake. Grandson Carlos, of course, laughed and made great fun of the “old people” that came to see him!

Also of interest, especially at this point in time, is the crane migration information. Cranes are arriving earlier this spring, and in record numbers according to the keepers of the crane counts. Birds started arriving about 3 weeks ago due to milder temperatures than usual in February. I should have plenty of birding information to go around, if you are interested. I might also mention that we have received word of the closure this spring of the Crane Trust Nature and Visitor Center located off of I-80 at Exit 305 at the Aldo Exit for much-needed renovations. Hopefully, they will be able to re-open later in time for the migration.
