EU’s tighter steel safeguard measures to boost steel prices in EU

28 Mar 2025 14:52 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The EU has tightened its steel safeguard measures and expanded the import restrictions on cold-rolled coils (CRC) with a quarterly quota cap of 13% and hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel with a cap of 20% for 4B HDG and 25% for 4A HDG, affecting major exporters such as Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Turkey.

The new quota system limits harmful trade patterns, including Japanese hot-rolled coil, Vietnamese HDG coil, and Turkish CRC, and it is expected to increase domestic prices in the EU, particularly for CRC and HDG products.
