On March 18, 2025, JFE Shoji Corporation announced that it had acquired the business of Maruhachi Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., a steel pipe dealer with inventory bases in Sendai and Urayasu, effective on April 1, 2025.

Maruhachi, founded in 1952, has one of the largest inventories and processing capabilities in the industry in eastern Japan, and it specializes in processing and selling steel pipes with diameters in medium to large sizes.

Through this acquisition, JFE Shoji will expand its sales structure in construction and civil engineering besides the facility piping field. In addition, in collaboration with its subsidiary Hoshi Kinzoku Co., Ltd., JFE Shoji will leverage its inventory of medium and large-diameter steel pipes and processing capabilities to build an inventory, processing, and sales system, thereby meeting demands for infrastructure renewal, national disaster resilience, and construction of semiconductor facilities and data centers.
