How to Delete a Google Calendar Permanently

Google Calendar is a great way to keep organized. You can have multiple different calendars set up to keep track of your appointments, work tasks, your family's arrangements, and so forth. But what if you get overwhelmed by too many calendars? Here's how to delete a Google Calendar, as well as how to temporarily hide calendars. 

Deleting a Google Calendar is a permanent yet practical step in certain situations.

You can't delete the primary (or main) calendar, but you can remove all events from it by following these steps.

1. Log into https://calendar.google.com.

2. Select the Settings cog near the top of the browser window.

   

3. Select Settings.

   

4. Scroll down the list on the left side until you reach the name of the calendar you want to delete. 

5. Select the calendar name.

6. Scroll down and select Remove Calendar.

   

7. Select Delete.

   

   Alternatively, you can unsubscribe from the calendar temporarily here too. 

8. Select Permanently Delete.

   

   This permanently deletes it for you, as well as anyone else who has access to the calendar. 

If you only want to remove a calendar temporarily from your view, the process is even simpler.

How to Hide a Google Calendar

If you want to hide the name of the calendar as well as any appointments on it, the process is slightly different.

1. On the main Calendar page, scroll down to My Calendars and the calendar you want to hide or unsubscribe from.

2. Select the X next to its name.

   

   You can also select the three dots to the right of the calendar name, then select Hide From List.

3. Select Remove Calendar.

   

   This process removes the calendar from your view but other people can still access it and make changes.

How to Hide a Google Calendar on Mobile

While you can't delete a Google Calendar from the Google Calendar app, you can hide it from view.

1. Open the Google Calendar app.

2. Tap the three horizontal lines at the top left-hand side of the app.

3. Scroll down to your Calendar list.

4. Tap the name of the calendar to temporarily hide it.

   

How to Unsubscribe to a Calendar

If you only want to remove a calendar temporarily from your view, the process is even simpler.

On the main Calendar page, scroll down to My Calendars and the calendar you want to hide or unsubscribe from, then select the name of the calendar to immediately hide it from your calendar layout.

The name of the calendar remains on the list. Just click on it again to see the appointments.
