How to Save Web Pages in Safari for OS X

This article is only intended for users running the Safari Web browser on Mac OS X operating systems.

There are many reasons why you may want to save a copy of a web page to your hard drive or external storage device. No matter your motive, the good news is that Safari allows you to save pages in just a few easy steps. Depending on how the page is designed, this may include all of the corresponding code as well as its image files.

How to Save Web Pages in Safari for OS X

  1. First, open your browser and navigate to the page you want to save.

  2. Select File in your Safari menu located at the top of your screen.

  3. When the drop-down menu appears, select Save As.

    You can use the following keyboard shortcut in lieu of this menu option: COMMAND + S

  4. A pop-out dialog will now appear, overlaying your main browser window. First, enter the name that you would like to give to your saved files or archive in the Export As field.

  5. Next, select the location where you'd like to save these files via the Where option.

  6. Once you have chosen a suitable location, you have the option to choose the format in which you'd like to save the web page.

  7. Finally, when you are satisfied with these values, press Save. The Web page file(s) have now been saved in the location of your choice.
