How to set the color of a textView span in android?


This example demonstrates how do I set the color of a textView span in android.

Step 1 − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project.

Step 2 − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main.xml.

      android:textSize="16sp"
      android:padding="12sp"

</RelativeLayout>

Step 3 − Add the following code to src/MainActivity.java

import android.text.style.ForegroundColorSpan;
import android.widget.TextView;

      setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
      textView = findViewById(R.id.textView);

      SpannableString spannableString = new SpannableString(text);
      ForegroundColorSpan foregroundColorSpanCyan = new ForegroundColorSpan(Color.CYAN);
      ForegroundColorSpan foregroundColorSpanBlue = new ForegroundColorSpan(Color.BLUE);
      ForegroundColorSpan foregroundColorSpanGreen = new ForegroundColorSpan(Color.GREEN);
      spannableString.setSpan(foregroundColorSpanCyan, 3, 15, Spanned.SPAN_EXCLUSIVE_EXCLUSIVE);
      spannableString.setSpan(foregroundColorSpanBlue, 22, 31, Spanned.SPAN_EXCLUSIVE_EXCLUSIVE);
      spannableString.setSpan(foregroundColorSpanGreen, 38, 49, Spanned.SPAN_EXCLUSIVE_EXCLUSIVE);
      textView.setText(spannableString);
   }
}

Step 4 − Add the following code to androidManifest.xml
