How to draw a line in Android?


This example demonstrates how do I draw a line in android.

Step 1 − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project.

Step 2 − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main.xml.

      android:layout_width="wrap_content"
      android:layout_height="wrap_content"
      android:text="Draw Line"
      android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
      android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"

Step 3 − Add the following code to src/MainActivity.java

      button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
         @Override
         public void onClick(View view) {
            Bitmap bitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(10, 700, Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888);
            Canvas canvas = new Canvas(bitmap);
            canvas.drawColor(Color.RED);
            Paint paint = new Paint();
            paint.setColor(Color.RED);
            paint.setStyle(Paint.Style.STROKE);
            paint.setStrokeWidth(8);
            paint.setAntiAlias(true);
            int offset = 50;
            canvas.drawLine(
               offset, canvas.getHeight() / 2, canvas.getWidth() - offset, canvas.getHeight() / 2, paint);

Step 4 - Add the following code to androidManifest.xml

Let's try to run your application. I assume you have connected your actual Android Mobile device with your computer. To run the app from android studio, open one of your project's activity files and click Run icon from the toolbar.
