This example demonstrates how to add shadow Effect for a Text in Android.

Step 1 − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project.

Step 2 − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main.xml.

<?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android = "https://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
   android:id = "@+id/parent"
   xmlns:tools = "https://schemas.android.com/tools"
   android:layout_width = "match_parent"
   android:layout_height = "match_parent"
   tools:context = ".MainActivity"
   android:gravity = "center"
   android:orientation = "vertical">
   <TextView
      android:id = "@+id/text"
      android:textSize = "28sp"
      android:textAlignment = "center"
      android:textColor = "#FFF"
      android:layout_width = "match_parent"
      android:shadowColor = "#000"
      android:shadowDx = "-2"
      android:shadowDy = "-2"
      android:shadowRadius = "1"
