Discussion
[edit]- Comment I'm not too familiar with this domain but I can see how this might be needed from the description. Thinking about it. ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:33, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
- @ArthurPSmith:, would you like to give your opinion? Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 05:25, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose: why not use instead P793, with a P585 qualifier? Maxime Ravel (talk) 05:50, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- I think this gets quite difficult/is hard to understand when a person held the same position several times with a break between. Rerumscriptor (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Couldn’t you add multiple significant event (P793)s each with relevant point in time (P585) qualifiers? —Freso (talk) 01:20, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

- Weak support: I can see the use of this as a qualifier directly on position held (P39)s when a elected in (P2715) might not be applicable (or available/known) for whatever reason but the date is. If it is added, it should probably be with a note to prefer elected in (P2715) where an applicable event/item exists. I’m not a big fan of the significant event (P793)-point in time (P585) idea since that feels like moving data away from where it’s relevant and also duplicate data. E.g., not only would you need to add significant event (P793) for a given office they have held, you would now also need to somehow relate an "elected to office" event (considering that this does not already have an item or a elected in (P2715) qualifier would have been the obvious choice) and add a qualifier (point in time (P585)) for that and there would be no obvious link between a given position held (P39) statement and a given significant event (P793) one. —Freso (talk) 04:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
