Motivation
[edit]Notified participants of WikiProject Japan
A property for lexemes that are counters words or that contain a numeral+counter. the object must be a class. please pay special attention to example 5 and 7. 5 points to a specific number of instances and 7 points to a specific class only created to suit this statement. There will be a need for other specific classes like small animal or big animal-- Loominade (talk) 11:45, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- This property should probably be enlarged to include Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese classifiers, too. NMaia (talk) 00:43, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- yes, agreed. I removed all references to japanese from the proposal. Can you or anyone provide examples for languages other then Japanese? --Loominade (talk) 07:12, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- I think Thai also uses classifiers. I will try to add examples for Vietnamese later. Pamputt (talk) 09:34, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Here is a Punjabi example: ਦਾਣਾ/داݨہ/دانہ (L689357) (S1) › cereals and pseudocereals (Q2643145), quantity (P1114) › 1. --Middle river exports (talk) 14:31, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

- Support: Chinese example: 只 (L689314) counts instance of animal (Q729). 0xDeadbeef (talk) 11:00, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: if classifier (P5978) can already be used for linking a classifier from an object, do we need this inverse property? --Middle river exports (talk) 14:04, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Disregard - I missed that this refers to an item rather than another lexeme sense. --Middle river exports (talk) 14:17, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support. --Middle river exports (talk) 14:36, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Support. However, some Japanese numerals (such as 個/こ (L625738), 本/ほん (L679421), and 枚/まい (L626242)) are too broadly adaptable, so it is difficult to determine how to limit them. --Okkn (talk) 09:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
