OpposePragerU is not associated with any university, despite the deceptive name. It is a right-wing propaganda site. Most of their videos are filled with either falsehoods or highly misleading claims. We should not be promoting them here. See en: PragerU for enwiki's info on the site; this Media Matters discussion is pretty comprehensive on the extremism of some of these contributors. ArthurPSmith (talk) 21:24, 30 December 2019 (UTC)- @ArthurPSmith: PragerU is not a "right-wing propaganda site". It is a far-right propaganda organization, with a website, a Youtube channel and many videos. And in my opinion, this would be usefull to know that Farage or Murray choose to compromise himself with such organization, by presenting one or several of their video. Not that we didn't know already that Farage is far-right, of course. Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 08:30, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- occupation (P106) television presenter (Q947873) at/of Prager University (Q30094954) ? Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 10:28, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- Support: I agree with ArthurPSmith that PragerU is a propaganda site, but that doesn't mean it's not suitable for linking to Wikidata. Having a property for a website isn't endorsing it, and most uses of data from the site (infoboxes on Wikimedia projects and external applications) can be selective about what properties they want to use, choosing to omit displaying this where it's not relevant. This might be a useful property for someone trying to get structured data about PragerU contributors, for any number of purposes. Vahurzpu (talk) 16:50, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Having a property for an external identifier here with a formatter URL creates outgoing links from Wikidata to that site, which Google and other automated systems can interpret as endorsement - certainly they increase the visibility and accessibility of the material. ArthurPSmith (talk) 23:05, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- Wikidata external identifier links are marked as nofollow (Q305885), which should prevent the property links from boosting PraegerU's search engine ranking. I also think that the boost in visibility that would come from the small number of people scrolling through the Wikidata pages is tiny, especially because these links would only be on the pages of PraegerU contributors. Vahurzpu (talk) 04:01, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hmm, I wasn't aware of the nofollow, that's a good thing. I guess it makes sense. Ok, withdrawing my "oppose" vote, but I'm still not entirely comfortable with this. ArthurPSmith (talk) 18:13, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose I would be very uncomfortable with creating this. If we want to index contributors to this venue (and I agree with VFP that that could be an interesting and useful think to do) we can use claims for that. I don't think we need a specific property for contributors, which feels like a tacit endorsement of the site.
- In addition, I would generally be opposed to creating a specific "author/presenter on X website" property when there are only about 200 people it is going to be useful for. Andrew Gray (talk) 21:26, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- "we can use claims for that" @Andrew Gray: How would we do that? Visite fortuitement prolongée (talk) 21:50, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Visite fortuitement prolongée I would suggest something like participant (P710) or contributed to creative work (P3919) with an item like "PragerU lecture series" (perhaps broken down into distinct sets of them, depending on the structure)? Andrew Gray (talk) 20:09, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
