- I would prefer "PitchBook company ID" as label for the property so that it follows our usual naming. Is there an argument for this label? ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 01:34, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sounds good. - PKM (talk) 21:40, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

Question I have several comments/questions about this proposal, which seems incomplete.
- As a non-subscriber, I can't find any way on the web interface to search for a comany profile. https://pitchbook.com/profiles works, but that is not obvious. How would an editor unfamiliar with this site find a profile? You might add source = https://pitchbook.com/profiles to address this question.
- The sample external ID you provide for BlackRock should be the variable part of the actual formatted link https://pitchbook.com/profiles/advisor/10768-06, so "advisor/10768-06", not "Blackrock company profile".
- The part of the link after /profiles/ is variable, for example https://pitchbook.com/profiles/company/46488-07 for SpaceX. Therefore the formatter link should be https://pitchbook.com/profiles/$1 and the regex should allow alpha, numbers, hypens, and slashes, so \d+. (It would be even better to list all the possible values for business type if you know what those are - see the formatting for Encyclopædia Britannica Online ID (P1417). I have seen advisor, company, investor, limited-partner, person.) Also note that the "numeric" part of the ID may include a letter.
- Please indicate that this is Data type = String.
- Please include more examples of different types: a company, a person and an investor would be good to add. I found https://pitchbook.com/profiles/company/46488-07, https://pitchbook.com/profiles/person/327483-37P, https://pitchbook.com/profiles/investor/106350-58. - Thanks - PKM (talk) 00:17, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Here's a person who actually has a wikidata ID: https://pitchbook.com/profiles/person/89071-66P = John Sculley (Q337024). Also note that Elon Musk has two IDS in PitchBook, one as an investor and one as a person. - PKM (talk) 01:42, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- As others said, the proposal needs a lot of fixes. The regex seems to be this --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 14:01, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
(person|advisor|company)/[0-9A-Z-]+
- @Fordaemdur: Do you need help improving this proposal? I saw elsewhere that you are new to proposing properties. I'm happy to help if wanted. - PKM (talk) 20:24, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl, PKM, Vladimir Alexiev: proposal updated, would you like to give your opinions. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:38, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- The name of company ID is not inline with the person/advisor examples. Either a more general name or more specific properties. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 21:00, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- I suggest “PitchBook profile ID” with description “identifier for a company or individual in the PitchBook database of venture capital and private equity”. - PKM (talk) 22:22, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, looks good. I added the regex (I found another type "fund") and examples of type "investor". - PKM (talk)
- @PKM, ChristianKl: updated. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 13:33, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Support the description from PKM is good as it gives an idea of what the property is about that goes beyond the information available from the label. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 16:13, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Done as PitchBook profile ID (P12689). Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 03:44, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ZI Jony: I'm getting a regex error - is it the / ? See Intuitive Machines (Q60760151)? - PKM (talk) 04:04, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- @PKM:, regex error fixed, looks fine to me. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:26, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

@ZI Jony: the regex was still inaccurate. As a result, it doesn't enforce the entering of a prefix, so I had to ping a user to fix his entries: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AFinanceManToo#Pitchbook_ID_format .
- I fixed the regex to this --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 06:47, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
