Agreement on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainability (ACCTS) signed

On 15 November 2024, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin and his counterparts from Costa Rica, Iceland and New Zealand signed the Agreement on Climate Change, Trade and Sustainability (ACCTS) in a virtual signing ceremony.

President Amherd and Federal Councillor Parmelin receive Swedish Minister for Civil Defence Bohlin in Bern

On 12 November, President Viola Amherd, head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) and Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), will receive Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin in Bern for an exchange on current security policy issues.

Federal Councillor Parmelin renews vocational education and training agreement with the USA

On 23 October, the head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Guy Parmelin, signed a memorandum of understanding in Washington D.C. reaffirming the close cooperation between Switzerland and the US on vocational education and training.

Free trade agreement with India: Federal Council submits dispatch to Parliament

On 4 September, the Federal Council adopted a dispatch on the free trade agreement between the EFTA states and India. The agreement strengthens the competitiveness of Swiss exports in the world's most populous country.

Meeting between Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin and FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu in Bern

On 22 August, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin received the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Qu Dongyu. Their discussions in Bern focused on Switzerland’s partnership with the FAO and global food security.
