JT tagged in Omarion for a nostalgic promo for her dance-ready track “JT Coming.” The new clip takes inspiration from the 2004 film You Got Served where the R&B singer starred as David, the co-leader of a Los Angeles-based, battle-tested, dance crew.
Uploaded to social media on Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 7), the release features both musicians and a handful of dancers in an alley, playfully performing a routine inspired by the high-energy choreography and mirroring moves similar to the competitive eight-counts in the movie.
“It was only right to bring ‘DAVID’ back out for the YOU GOT SERVED vibes. We did it for lil Saint and JT!!” wrote the 39-year-old on Instagram sharing the video, channeling the early 2000s street dance scene.
“JT Coming” is track 12 on the Miami-bred rapper’s debut solo mixtape City Cinderella. With 16 tracks total, the project features Jeezy, DJ Khaled, Stunna Girl, and CLIP.
“I’m making sure I’m representing myself in the brightest light that I can as a Black girl. In the past, I did and said a lot of crazy things, and I’m just not in that space anymore. I want to represent us in the best light, and myself in the best light,” detailed the 31-year-old of her new era to W Magazine.
“I’m just in a great space. I feel good, I look good. Aging is a fear for women, but we look so much better when we know ourselves. Every day I wake up I feel confident. That also comes from surrounding yourself with the right people and being in the right environments.”
Bringing the title “JT Coming” to life, the “No Bars” performer is set to bring her dance moves across the country on the City Cinderella Tour. With stops in Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, and Houston, the tour wraps in Los Angeles in September.
