Zenless Zone Zero Agent list: All characters in Version 1.0

Zenless Zone Zero is a brand-new urban fantasy RPG from HoYoverse, where you control an eclectic cast of characters taking on Ethereal ghouls and high-tech troopers across the city of New Eridu. It’s flashy, 3rd-person action at home on mobile, PC, and PS5, creating an explosive light show as you pummel baddies to a pulp with over-the-top ultimate abilities and flurries of pounding basic attacks.

While you’re going to be doing the much of the same thing with the whole roster - beating up unsuspecting Ethereals and watching bigger and bigger numbers pop out of them - there’s still some tough choices to be made. Who from the wide array of Zenless Zone Zero characters is going to be your main? Who’s going to round out the rest of your team? And who should you avoid?

However, with this run-down of the full Zenless Zone Zero roster so far that task just got a little bit easier.

Cunning Hares

  • Nicole (Nicole Demara)
  • A-rank / Ether / Support-Strike

A heavier ranged option, Nicole’s giant gun can also be used as a melee weapon at close range where she literally bashes bad guys with it like a briefcase. While her attacks are slightly slower, the large area-of-effect blasts are even more powerful than you might first expect, effectively dealing with groups of enemies.

Nicole is one of your starter characters, and is also the only Ether Agent in the game at launch — worth bearing in mind while deciding who to build! She'll also be featured with a rate-up on Zhu Yuan's banner starting on July 24.

  • Anby (Anby Demara)
  • A-rank / Electric / Stun-Slash

A nippy and solid melee character, Anby has the added advantage of elemental electrical attacks, imbuing her sword with blue lightning damage. Her long strides close distance very quickly, so she also has a longer effective range than the length of her sword would suggest.

Anby is one of the trio of starter characters you get for free during the prologue.

  • Billy (Billy Kid)
  • A-rank / Physical / Attack-Pierce

Billy is like a cross between the ranged combat in Devil May Cry and Diablo’s Demon Hunter class. As well as long-ranged potshots with his pistols to hold enemies at bay from a distance, he can slide around the battlefield and fire his guns in a quick circle for crowd control.

Billy is also one of the trio of starter characters you get for free during the prologue.

  • Nekomata (Nekomiya Mana)
  • S-rank / Physical / Attack-Slash

Nekomata sees the mobility on offer elsewhere and takes things up yet another level, bouncing around the arena with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it speed. The range of her twin short daggers is limited, but her movement ability is such that she can close distances and isolate enemies with ease.

Nekomata is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull her on any banner.

Victoria Housekeeping

The Agents of the Victoria Housekeeping faction pose in a pared-back living room setting with a red sofa and portraits on the backdrop (l-r: Rina with Drusilla and Anastella, Lycaon, Corin, and Ellen).

  • Ellen (Ellen Joe)
  • S-rank / Ice / Attack-Slash

Ellen Joe is the answer to the question "What if Sharknado was a top-tier DPS in an ARPG, and also a French maid for some reason?" Yes, she's got a lot going on thematically, but you can't argue with her ability to freeze enemies in place while attacking them with a terrifying pair of giant scissors.

Ellen is ZZZ's first event-limited S-rank character, debuting on launch day and with her banner expected to run until Phase 2 starts on July 24.

  • Corin (Corin Wickes)
  • A-rank / Physical / Attack-Slash

A unique fighter who deals ultra-fast repeated damage to enemies as she revs her chainsaw, Corin is going to be a popular character regardless of whether she’s good or not. While the jury’s still out on that one, we’re leaning towards the former, since her damage output seems great and feels good to play.

Corin will be available for free as a pre-registration bonus for all players starting the game.

  • Rina (Alexandrina Sebastiane)
  • S-rank / Electric / Support-Strike

Rina is deceptively powerful thanks to her ability to near-constantly puppeteer her two dolls, Drusilla and Anastella, both of whom can act semi-independently to deal additional Physical and/or Electric damage to opponents. With all three attacking together, Rina can absolutely pummel the opposition with little difficulty.

Rina is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull her on any banner.

  • Lycaon (Von Lycaon)
  • S-rank / Ice / Stun-Strike

A mobile and acrobatic hero with a lot of single-target power, Lycaon deals fast damage in ultra-quick combos with short lulls in between as he swaps to the next move in his arsenal. He’s a fun and versatile character capable of shortening distances and rushing enemies down, just try not to think about the fan art that’s definitely already out there.

Lycaon is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull him on any banner.

Belobog Heavy Industries

Anton, Koleda, and Ben pose against an orange background with their weapons and logo on display.

  • Koleda (Koleda Belobog)
  • S-rank / Fire / Stun-Strike

Koleda’s hammer-wielding attack style is a lot of fun to watch as she leaps into the air during combos. She’s quite focused on what’s immediately in front of her - you wouldn’t expect someone that size to have much range - but she’s capable of flitting around levels between targets with ease. She and Ben have a unique team-up ult when they're in a party together, too!

Koleda is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull her on any banner.

  • Ben (Ben Bigger)
  • A-rank / Fire / Defense-Strike

“Big bear with a rocket launcher” is a big promise to make good on, but luckily Ben delivers all you want and more. Combining huge crowd control capability and explosive ammunition, he’s great for when you just need to blow stuff up. He and Koleda have a unique team-up ult when they're in a party together, too!

Ben will feature with a rate-up on Zhu Yuan's banner during Phase 2 of Version 1.0 (starting July 24), giving you plenty of time to decide whether you want to build him and plan accordingly!

  • Anton (Anton Ivanov)
  • A-rank / Electric / Attack-Pierce

Despite his badass billing, Anton might not seem that exciting on first playing with him, but once you realise his ability to mix up short and medium ranged melee attacks his utility becomes clear. Good area-of-effect and ground pound moves make him a good allrounder.

Anton is featured with a rate-up on ZZZ's first character event banner with Ellen Joe, so if you're looking to build him up early, you've got a great chance of doing so.

  • Grace (Grace Howard)
  • S-rank / Electric / Anomaly-Pierce

Grace is Belobog Heavy Industries' long-range expert, with much of her kit centred around stacking up and then deploying grenades for the best damage dealt from a distance. When not lobbing 'nades across the arena she has a quick-firing gun for back-up, which can leave her a bit vulnerable at close range.

Grace is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull her on any banner.

Section 6

Soukaku slashes with her weapon.
Soukaku is the only member of Section 6 available in 1.0, but she's due to be joined by Miyabi (who we met in the betas) as well as Yanagi and Harumasa at some point in the future. | Image credit: HoYoverse
  • Soukaku
  • A-rank / Ice / Support-Slash

Probably one of the closest things Zenless Zone Zero has to a slow character other than Ben, Soukaku is the typical heavy-weapon-wielding high-damage hero on the roster. What she lacks in basic speed however she makes up for with a wide attacking range and specials and ultimates that dish out hits a lot more quickly.

Soukaku is featured with a rate-up on ZZZ's first character event banner with Ellen Joe, so if you're looking to build her up early, you've got a great chance of doing so.

OBOLS Squad

Soldier 11 reaches for her weapon.

  • Soldier 11
  • S-rank / Fire / Attack-Slash

Like an S-ranked Anby, but fire - what more can you ask for?

Soldier 11 is a permanent S-rank character, meaning you'll have a chance to pull her on any banner.

Criminal Investigation Special Response Team

Zhu Yuan fights a huge enemy on a city street.
Zhu Yuan is the only member of this faction in Version 1.0, although the pre-release livestream teased that at least three more team members will join her sooner or later, including the recently announced Qingyi. | Image credit: HoYoverse
  • Zhu Yuan
  • S-rank / Ether / Attack-Pierce

Zhu Yuan's kit combines both ranged and close-up options, thanks to her possessing both a nifty hand cannon and a wicked martial arts high-kick. She's also able to zip around the arena at great speeds (and perhaps with a few unnecessary handstands) — fittingly for the sole member of her faction at the time of writing, she's a bit of a one-woman army.

Zhu Yuan is ZZZ's second event-limited S-rank character. Her banner will debut at the start of Phase 2 of Version 1.0, which is due to begin on July 24.

Sons of Calydon

Piper and Lucy pose in their revealing biker outfits against a stylised orange-red background.

  • Lucy (Luciana de Montefio)
  • A-rank / Fire / Support-Strike

Lucy is a lady with a number of strings to her bow: baseballer, pet mother, and biker with questionable imagery all describe her fairly. Her Guard Boars contribute a lot to her appeal, making her something of an A-rank Rina substitute in their ability to act independently on the field while inheriting many of Lucy's stats (especially if she's teamed up with Piper and/or another Fire character).

  • Piper (Piper Wheel)
  • A-rank / Physical / Anomaly-Slash

Somewhat reminiscent of an A-rank alternative to Koleda at first glance, Piper wields a big mallet that hits hard at whatever is in front of her but lacks the mobility and range of some other units. However, more noteworthy is the fact that she's the only A-rank Anomaly fighter at launch, and can trigger her abilities in order to spread Physical damage debuffs across a much wider area.

If you like the look of some or all of these characters, you're going to need to unlock Zenless Zone Zero's gacha — but don't forget, you also do get quite a few of them for free!
