The UPU cannot deliver alone. Partnerships help strengthen and accelerate the development impact of our projects and policies through both concrete country-level efforts and global and regional initiatives.
With the support of partnerships and stakeholder engagement, the UPU aims to co-create and implement solutions and policies by leveraging local and global postal networks.
As stated in Sustainable Development Goal 17, achieving the ambitious targets of the 2030 Agenda requires a revitalized and enhanced global partnership that brings together governments, civil society, the private sector, United Nations system and other actors, and mobilizes all available resources.
The UPU is committed to working closely with partners from the private sector and across the UN system, alongside industry stakeholders and organizations that share the objectives of inclusive, innovative and sustainable development across its 192 member countries.
- On 26 June 2024, Mr Masahiko Metoki, UPU Director General, and Mr Wolfgang Küpper, OTIF (Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail) Secretary-General, met at the UPU headquarters in Bern. They renewed the Memorandum of Understanding to continue to strengthening formal relations between the two organizations. More about the news here.

The UPU at 150: A Legacy of Global Cooperation and Communication
04.11.2024 — In celebration of World Post Day 2024 and the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a grand ceremony was held on 9 October at the UPU’s headquarters in Berne, Switzerland. Global representatives gathered to honour the milestone under the theme “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations”.
UPU World Leaders Forum in Amsterdam Champions Innovation for Customer Trust

The UPU World Leaders Forum, held on 22 and 23 October as part of Parcel+Post Expo, brought together key voices from the postal and logistics industry to discuss challenges in digital transformation and maintaining customer trust. The forum provided a collaborative space to address issues like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and inclusive innovation, exploring how the postal sector can adapt and continue serving as a reliable pillar of global communication and commerce.
UNCTAD: Towards a fair digital economy for small business
28.10.2024 — The digital economy could be a boon for small businesses and developing economies, but the fast pace of change and the investments and policy support required, could leave these often-voiceless players out of the digital economy, creating even greater global economic divide and hindering democracy, said Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
