Research Week is a university-wide celebration of research, creativity, and innovation across all disciplines at the University of North Florida. At UNF, Research Week consists of showcases, workshops, award ceremonies, symposia, and other events designed to showcase the prestigious research being conducted by UNF students, faculty, and staff. All members of the University of North Florida and members of the northeast Florida community are invited to join us as we celebrate the many contributions of the university community to advancements in knowledge, teaching, and creativity.

 Research Week 2024 will be April 15 - April 22.

“Sculpting Tomorrow: From Concept to Creation"

This Sculpture Student Exhibition is on exhibit in the Sky Gallery at the Jacksonville International Airport until April 30th.  The exhibition includes work from 27 current students and recent graduates. A part of the exhibition highlights the UNF Seaside Sculpture Park through large format posters and working maquettes (small models) that students created for their Seaside Sculpture Park presentations to the selection committee. Also highlighted are other works that display the diversity of creative thoughts by our students.

Personal Statement Workshop

A personal statement is a crucial component of applications for fellowships, internships, graduate school, and professional programs. During this workshop co-hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Writing Center, Dr. Ash Faulkner will share tips and tricks on how to construct a strong personal statement and how it differs from a research statement. 

Research Discoverability Workshop

1 p.m.
This workshop presented by faculty librarians Emily Ray and Deborah Williams aims to provide faculty members with information and resources useful in selecting high-impact academic journals for publishing.  We will explore bibliometrics and altmetrics, and discuss options in Read & Publish agreements provided by the Thomas G. Carpenter Library for open-access publishing,  research discoverability, and maximum impact.

UNF Digital Humanities Showcase

3-5 p.m. in Building 16, Osprey Commons, Fourth Floor, Talon Room

The UNF Digital Humanities Institute invites you to attend the DHI Showcase. Dr. ​Nashid Madyun, Executive Director of Florida Humanities, will give a brief keynote address before we talk with faculty and students about their work. In addition, we will be joined by representatives of several of our community partners, including the Jacksonville Public Library, LISC, the St. Augustine Historical Society, and others, who will be setting up tables to talk about their organizations and how you might work with them on DHI-affiliated projects.

Research NOW: Risk Factors of Post Award

Recipients of funding from sponsoring agencies have been awarded funds to carry out the goals and objectives identified in the grant. These funds are subject to certain regulations, oversight, and audit. We have the responsibility of managing these funds responsibly. The consequences of fraud have serious penalties. This session will discuss some of the most common violations and ways to protect your organization.

Astronomy Night - Ashley Meglino, Eli Morter, et al. (UNF), "Student Research Showcase" 
Building 50 (Science and Engineering Buliding) 

8 p.m.
At 8:00 p.m., Ashley Meglino, Eli Morter, et al. will give a public talk about their student research. The talk will take place in the Science & Engineering (Building 50), Room 1102 from 8 PM. Following the talk, there is public observing on the roof accessible via the elevator. Observation takes place on the roof, so dress comfortably and for the outdoors. You are encouraged to ask questions of professors and students throughout the night.
