Accreditation Overview

Accreditation indicates to current and potential students, as well as alumni, faculty, administrators, state legislators, the interested public, and all University stakeholders, that a given institution's organization and management processes are regularly reviewed in the interests of efficiency and effectiveness. Accreditation also evidences that faculty possess the appropriate qualifications to teach the curricula that they are scheduled to offer. An institution that is explicitly committed to continuous improvement in terms of structure and, especially in terms of process, is likely to achieve reaffirmation of accreditation on a regular basis.

Initially accredited in 1974, UNF’s accreditation was reaffirmed in 2019. In 2015, UNF successfully completed its fifth-year interim review. Effective August 2016, UNF attained Level VI status with the addition of its fourth doctoral degree.

The University of North Florida views its efforts to ensure continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness as part of a continuum of activities that contribute to successful reaffirmation of accreditation, and to the continued development of an institution of which all stakeholders can be proud.
