MySQL Query to Get the Count of All Elements in a Field

For this, use the COUNT() method. Let us first create a table −

mysql> create table DemoTable
-> (
-> ProductName varchar(100)
-> );
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.59 sec)

Insert some records in the table using insert command −

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-1');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.26 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-2');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.12 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-3');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.16 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-3');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.29 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-2');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.15 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-4');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.12 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-5');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.14 sec)

mysql> insert into DemoTable values('Product-1');
Query OK, 1 row affected (0.11 sec)

Display all records from the table using select statement −

mysql> select *from DemoTable;

This will produce the following output −
