Crashes
Dillon H. Clarke, 19, of Shinglehouse, suffered a suspected serious injury in a one-vehicle crash on Skunk Hollow Road, Sharon Township Sept. 20. Clarke was traveling north in a 1997 Honda TRX 250 ATV when he veered of the road and into a ditch, thinking it was a ramp. As he drove over the ditch, he lost control of the ATV and was thrown from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Dubois Regional Medical Center by helicopter.
Brian J. Kio, 21, of Coudersport, suffered a suspected serious injury in a one-vehicle crash on Rooks Road, Ulysses Township Sept. 7. Kio was traveling east on a 2023 Can Am MAV DS 54 Turbo ATV when he drove off the roadway and rolled the vehicle several times due to speed and was thrown from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet o seat belt and was transported by ambulance to Jone Memorial Hospital. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Bennett K. Johnston, 68, of Bradford, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Eleven Mile Road, Sharon Township Oct. 4. Johnston was traveling west in a 2019 Toyota Sequoia, when he hit a horse that was in the roadway. He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.
A cow in the road was the cause of a crash on Route 49, Harrison Township Oct. 1. The driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east when a cow entered the road, and the truck hit the cow on the driver’s side front fender. No injuries were reported, and the truck was driven from the scene.
Leslie P. Howarth, 67, of Coudersport, was possibly injured in a one-vehicle crash on Route 607 Keating Township Aug. 9. Howarth was traveling east in a 1999 Buick Opal when he fell asleep at the wheel on a right-hand curve, crossed into the opposing travel lane and then ran into an embankment. The car then traveled across both lanes and hit a tree head on. Howarth was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to UPMC Cole by Austin Volunteer Ambulance.
DUI
Gloria Keithley, 38, of Roulette, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants following a police dispatch to a reported domestic dispute at a residence on Oak Lane, Roulette Township Sept. 27. Keithley fled in a 2019 Jeep Compass before police could arrive and was subsequently stopped by police.
Drug possession
Louis Nellis, 29, of Irving, N.J., and Aveline Stine, 28, of Elkton, Md., were arrested for possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop on a 2024 Dodge 2015 Ram 2500 pick-up truck Aug. 10. Charges were filed in district court.,
A 34-year-old woman of Rochester, N.Y. was arrested following a traffic stop on a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder Armada on West Street, Galeton Sept. 28. It was discovered the woman, a passenger in the vehicle, was in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia. Charges filed in district court.
Burglary
A 45-year-old man of Genesee reported that someone had taken two ladders, a pry bar and snowmobile gloves from a residence on Gold Road, Genesee Township between July 29, 2023, and Feb. 17, 2024.
Theft
A customer at the Juniata Valley Bank, Coudersport, was the victim of theft by deception after someone took her bank information, deposited fake checks into the account and deceived her into buying gift cards Sept. 19. Anyone with information should contact state police at Coudersport.
Police are looking for whoever scammed an 18-year-old man of Austin out of $190 on social media platforms by an unknown person Oct. 7. The investigation is ongoing.
Harassment
A 53-year-old Galeton woman was arrested for harassment after police were dispatched to an incident between a woman and a juvenile male at a residence on Eggler Avenue, Galeton Sept. 14. A citation was filed against the woman.
Terroristic threats
Two teenagers, one of Olean, N.Y. and one of Genesee, were victims of a person with a pistol brandished and waved it at them on Honeoye Road, Sharon Township Sept. 27. Anyone with information about the unknown male, believed to be a young, Hispanic man with long black hair and driving an early 2000’s Ford Fusion with a cracked windshield, is asked to contact state police at Mansfield.
Propulsion of missiles
The person who was throwing things at traffic on Route 44, Sharton Township is being sought by police after two 20-year-olds, both of Coudersport, traveling north in a 2024 Hyundai Kona Oct. 6, reported the incident to police. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Coudersport.
