About Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial

The new Netflix docu-series Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial arrives at crucial juncture in modern history. The subjects it covers are still relevant today as the tools Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party employed in their ascent to power are being used in some form or another even now. While certain generations are aware of the horrors of what took place in Europe during World War II, it is imperative that a newer generation is shown this docu-series as well.
Director Joe Berlinger looks Hitler and his empire through several different lens. We begin with the day of reckoning for Adolf Hitler, who is played by Károly Kozma in the six-part series, and his mistress Eva Braun, played by Anna Szilvási. Hitler and the Nazis employs the obvious reenactments, archival footage and audio recordings to recreate the war crimes trials and goes back to see how the Nazi party gained a foothold in German and Europe.
Apart from examining Hitler's personal history in Austria, the docu-series also delves into some incidents that viewers may not be aware of. Later episodes move into the painful history of how the Nazis moved to create the Final Solution for the Jewish people and other minorities held in labour camps and ghettos across Europe. But the biggest impact with the docu-series lies with the footage from the Nuremberg Trials, the tribunal which was assembled to hold the Nazi leaders accountable.
Hitler and the Nazis doesn't hold back from showing the real horrors of the Holocaust period, from the dehumanization of their victim to the open propaganda that many could do nothing against. The message of the series is chilling; the ordinary people around you can go to commit horrific deeds. Hitler and the Nazis is required viewing.
