Humboldt County supervisors OK letter of concern over wood pellet project

Tuesday, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a comment letter on the environmental impacts of a controversial wood pellet project. The letter cited a bundle of concerns with the project, proposed by Golden State Natural Resources, which would create two wood pellet processing plants in Tuolumne and Lassen counties.

Supervisor Steve Madrone, who drafted and proposed the letter, said it was the right step at this time. The letter is commenting on an environmental report on the massive project. (Screenshot)

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will return to the topic of a massive wood pellet on Tuesday. The board sought an extension of time to comment on the project when it was first introduced to the board in late October 2024. It was a reasonable request given the report was 1,300 pages long.
