Top-seeded Novak Djokovic could meet his longtime rival Rafael Nadal in the second round of the Olympic tennis tournament.

Djokovic, pictured, was drawn against Australian Matthew Ebden and Nadal faces Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, with the winners of advancing to a second-round clash.

Spain's Nadal, 38, won a record 14 of his 22 major trophies at Roland Garros, where the competition will be played. He won Olympic gold in singles at Beijing 2008 and doubles at Rio 2016.

"Roland Garros is the most special place in tennis for me," Nadal said after the draw.

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner pulled out because of tonsillitis.
