Some 1,600 people signed up to become volunteer energy coaches this year.

"We are close to hitting our target of 50 runners and there's still time for people to sign up," he continued.

Passengers can sign up to the trial, called Digital Pay As You Go, through EMR's website.

Entrants have been asked to sign up via email, but a limited number of places will also be available on the day from 10:30 to 11:30 BST.
