UPDATED:

Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiac announces that their first event of the year 2025, will be held Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary at the Central United Methodist Church, 3882 Highland Road (M-59) in Waterford Twp.

Performing that afternoon will be the Rochester chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the “Guardians of Harmony,” a premier men’s a cappella barbershop show chorus. The chorus performs often throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. Director Matthew Tipton expects about 18 performers in attendance for the afternoon concert. The public is invited to what promises to be an exciting afternoon of music. Tickets for the Feb. 9 concert will be available at the door for $25. Following the program there will be an afterglow reception.

This program is the one and only fundraiser of the year for Tuesday Musicale with the proceeds earmarked for not only the monetary Dora Dawson Award, a music student’s competition, but also to defray the Musicale’s expenses throughout the season of free concerts.

Tuesday Musicale of Greater Pontiac has been offering concerts to the public for 101 years in the Pontiac area and is a member of the Michigan and National Federation of Music Clubs. Each year, music students have the opportunity to audition for a monetary award to aid in furthering their musical education.

The Dora Dawson Award is open to vocal and instrumental high school seniors and college students while the Rosamond Haeberle Award is offered to college students majoring in piano.
