Two mid-Michigan sophomore stars were named to the Division 4 Michigan Sports Writer’s All-State  girls basketball team on Monday afternoon in Sacred Heart Academy’s Karis Terwilliger and Breckenridge’s Maddie Breece.

Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy head coach Andrew Doerr also earned All-State honors in Division 4.

Terwilliger earned D4 first-team honors as she put together one of the best single seasons in program history this winter. She averaged 20 points per game to go along with six rebounds, five steals and three assists.  Terwilliger already has over 900-career points with two seasons left to go and could make a run at numerous school records.

Breece earned second-team All-State honors in D4 for the Breckenridge Huskies. She averaged 14 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists this winter.

Second-season Sacred Heart head coach Andrew Doerr also earned second-team All-State honors after leading the Irish to their third unbeaten regular-season in program history. The Irish won the conference crown before putting together a solid playoff that saw them win a district title.

SHA fell to eventual D4 state champion Fowler 57-36 in a regional final and closed the season with an overall record of 21-1. Doerr’s career record is 44-5.

Mio sophomore point guard Mia McGregor was named D4 ‘Player of the Year’ for a second-straight season. She averaged an incredible 39 points per game as well as 12.4 rebounds. She also had 10 games where she scored over 40 points this winter and has 1,607 career points.

Ewen Trout Creek head coach Jacky Besonen was named D4 ‘Coach of the Year.’ She coached the Panthers to an overall record of 27-2 this winter and into a spot in the D4 state final.
