  • Immigration Department claims whereabouts unknown
  • Manhunt launched to locate protesting Scotswoman
By Buwanajee Coralage   The whereabouts of the Scottish national Kayleigh Fraser are currently unknown, after the Court of Appeal dismissed a writ petition she filed against the decision taken by the Department of Immigration and Emigration to deport her from Sri Lanka, according to the Department of Immigration and Emigration. A spokesperson of the Department of Immigration and Emigration told The Morning yesterday (21) that upon her lack of response to the court order, the Department has taken measures to file a removal order with the Sri Lankan Police, while the State Intelligence Service (SIS) has started investigations on her whereabouts. “She is currently residing in the country without a visa, and our investigations team has initiated a search to locate her. A removal order has been taken with the involvement of the police as well.  The intelligence service have also been unable to locate her as of yet,” said Bandara. Following the dismissal of the petition filed by her on the Court of Appeal on 16 August, Kayleigh Fraser was instructed to depart from Sri Lanka as soon as possible, while The Morning also reported that the Department of Immigration and Emigration had granted a grace period for her departure, but when The Morning contacted the Police and the President’s Media Division about the matter, they appeared to be unaware of this case.
